I have the same problem. And it's aparently a global issue because I google'd the problem a few weeks ago.
There are a few fixes... but don't work for me. So I just use Chrome for YouTube

Try installing the latest version of firefox (3.XX) if already installed, reinstall it. Otherwise just use a different browser for youtube.

hmm i've never had a problem using firefox (any version on youtube).. Try full uninstall (manually delete all files left after you run uninstaller) then install newest version.. use foxmarks if you don't wanna lose bookmarks.

Well it's the Adobe Flash Player itself not firefox, and Adobe won't do a fix for it... yet.
Try disabling Adobe Flash Player then enabing it with Tools -> Add-ons.

Try this:
Right-click your sound icon in your taskbar then click "Volume Mixer" and see if Firefox is on there, if it is turn it up full.
May work, may not.
(I'm using Vista btw)
