New layout - WIP

Hey.

This is a layout i've been working on for a few hours. I was trying something new to try and break the habit I seem to have of producing nearly the same layout over and over. I need ideas for the content layout. If anyone has any, i'd be happy to hear them :)

Bear in mind this is still a WIP.

Wow I like it.

The colours definately work well together and as for content, i think a blog/portfolia as stated in the picture itself would suit it!! lol

I like the colours. I suppose it just depends on peoples tastes. Everyone's different.

Well, the red could be ok, but with a different background colour.

:D Something unique from you! Looks pretty good so far, not 100% sure on the browny colour, the red and grey seem to fit well.

Couple a of thing to try;

Lighten up the outer glows, try using white but make it just noticeable, I see it quite a bit and if its done right it looks really good.

Use a slightly darker outline on the navigation bar and box, the bright red is a bit much. Try making it darker, but only a little. Try and make it be seen but not stand out.

Maybe try scrapping the gradient in the footer and just using the same block grey colour you used above the navigation.

UPDATE:

I darkened the background and darkened the inner glows to a darker shade of red so they don't stick out as much.
I tried the white inner glow as redtom suggested but it didn't look right, I don't think I can get it to go like you said, lol :(

This is a possible final version but I'm sure there's alot that could be improved with it. Let me know your thoughts. :)

Maybe try adding a darker background to the two images in your content, I think it looks a bit out of place. Your footer is looking better but maybe have a darker colour? maybe a grey instead of the white.

I personally can't see why people like this at all. First thing I need to state is Jme, this is not an insult to you or your work as I know you have made some great designs.

But this is aweful, it hurts to look at as the colour just do not "hug" each other, creating a nasty clash in some areas. If your going to use a dark background, make the main content alot brighter and bolder, for example make the box blue, with white text. I don'y know what else to say about it, I just really do not like (personally).

Again, before people get on their own high horses and start flaming me for having an opinion, its my personal opinion so Jme can decide to take it into account, or not.

I guess it just comes down to people tastes again. People like dark templates, others don't :P
