Who has one? I'm thinking of getting one to use in school in place of the school computers as the network has become even worse :l Are they any good?

Yes, they are fine, but the Linux ones probably wouldn't be much good for school.

You won't get internet or network connectivity at school, and if they give you it, it will still be crap

Er. I know this sounds odd but, in my Tesco there was a ad for a Dual Core Vista laptop for £250ish. I got one, it's actually really nice. It'd do for school as long as you don't play football with your bag while it's in there (well, not play football but you know what I mean.)

No, do not. That is the 900, it has the 701's processor, and it's bigger. Get a 901, it has overclocking features built right into it!

Strictly speaking it's not a netbook but it uses Linux and it's very small.

Just £217, hell of a lot better than any of the eee PC's, I'm surprised this hasn't taken off yet. Decent spec's too, could easily run XP.

It's a reasonably good deal and the SD Card will fit into the SD Card reader built-in the machine.

Need I remind you that ASUS EEEs have a tenancy to kill SDHC cards after a few months? eeeuser.com, search around their forum.

I would certainly NEVER recommend someone purchase a 900, when the 901 is available and is so much better.

I've owned both, and before I purchased it I was curious about the size difference too, because I wanted a small device :D. I believe it's half an inch larger on width, but that's expected, because the screen is larger on it.

Couldn't agree more. He seems like he wont listen to any of us saying the 901 is MUCH better than the 900, 700 or 701.

The 701...I had one, but upgraded to to the 901, as so I could get the extra features!

Youd be silly not to get the 901.

Agreed.

I'm not buying the 901 and certainly don't need your opinion on everything

Then why post if you don't want opinions?

The processor in the 900 is terrible. Which is why I say not to get it. If you need it for doing lightweight tasks then get it. But when I had the EEEPC with this processor, I found what I could do very limited.

But hey, if you like spending money on weaker machines that lack features that are quite useful, don't let what I'm telling you change your mind ?

The Acer Aspire One is the best Netbook on the market IMO. 1.6Ghz Intel Atom Processor, 1GB Ram, 120GB HDD.

Thats not what he means.

If its not an SSD then the drive inside will become corrupt meaning the OS will, how will a memory stick be useful then? :P

How will the HDD be a problem? It comes with a carry case and if the HDD isn't spinning it is unlikely to be a problem anyway.

Besides, you can buy a cheaper option with an 8GB SSD. See here:

Tbh, get better for your money and go for the new advent 4211 10inch netbook, had one for my birthday. 80GB HD, 1GB DDR2 ram, SD card slots, built in webca, bluetooth, ect. For around the same price if not slightly cheaper than the 901, you only have to google around for reviews of the 901 and 4211 to see that the 4211 kicks it's *** all day long. I was also considering having the 901 for my birthday, but then did some looking about and found this, glad I found it to be fair.

Riight so your confident in fully taking apart a laptop and replacing the processor (with is probably about 99% positive it will be soldered) and then putting it back together?

Cheap is irrelevant, size makes the Netbook. That, and how many features you can pack into it.
