Is my PS3 broken?

I shut my PS3 down the correct way, it went into standby mode. I switched it off from the switch at the rear to cut power to it. Now, I enable the power again and it won't turn on. I get no red lights, green lights, sounds, picture or anything. Is it dead?

I can't believe this.. only got it yesterday.

My impression of Playstation isn't that great now.

Did you put it in HD on a SD tv?

Were all power cables inserted correctly?

I had to flip the switch backward and forward like, really quickly. It's worked everytime.

You shouldn't have to do that though so it must be faulty in some respects.
