You should have been here 2/3 years ago, it was AMAZING then.
Lukey, Danny, Hayd... you are very much mistaken!
It was obviously DJ Leah that was playing the great music. ;)

I don't listen to it as much as I used to, mainly due to the fact that the majority of listeners request songs that I don't prefer.

I dont usually listen because when I request a song the DJ never seems to play it but always manages to play their friend's songs...
But nevertheless its still very professional :)

Sam, that shouldn't be the case. I don't think it is either. If a DJ has a song that's requested they'll play it unless it's overplayed. For example, if people request Disturbia, i get a different Rihanna song on because Disturbia is overplayed but they still get Rihanna! ;)

Oh no it hadnt been played at all... I checked the history and I had been tuned in since the previous show.
The DJ said they had it in the playlist but many songs were played until I gave up hope near the end of the show.
What type of music was being played on the show?
and Dan, you still tune into me kfnx. ;D
Just a general show, there was the usual chart stuff and some oldies etc.
I dont mind really I just thought it was odd for the DJ to say "ok thats in the playlist now" but then about 20 mins later there were songs being played that had been requested much later than my request.
Just what I experienced anyway, im sure its no big deal :)
,Jess,
13-09-2008, 02:48 PM
Sometimes DJs play requests of songs that aren't often played on air before the really requested ones. Also say if all the requests were like rock music and then someone requested an RnB song, it is likely the DJ will bring that forward to make sure there's variety. Then sometimes they may genuinely forget about your request :P.

Haha I know the feeling of forgetting requests when I use to DJ.
All I meant was that as the DJ actually said they had put it in the playlist but then continued to play songs of other people's requests who they knew better/were in the party room.
Anyway, like I say its no big deal and it was only a one time thing :)

In aspects you are very true in saying this conz. The current DJs in terms of professionalism have improved and I will say this through the rare times I tune in. Though yeh Habbox Live used to be superb when it did have this 'community' spirit. In that group of DJs we bonded in a very nice way, as there wasn't this sort of commercial thing of DJs coming and going. I remember those great days and I'm sure the DJs did then too. Though HxL is also now progressing to become professional, as maybe the only way to do this is to have an increased team, who knows. I wouldn't say it ruined the community but it took a large (very large) chunk out of that sort of family atmosphere.

i think if the DJS weren't so damn bloody annoying (saying this nicely) then maybe people would like them more. I tuned in once and there was some girl CRYING (well, not really) over something happening on habbo, when you go into hxhd it's packed with all these "DJS" being idiots. They are all like 12 year old, well they act it. It's seriously annoying, which is why I don't tune in anymore. I used to listen to Leah, not all the time but just sometimes if i was bored but i'd make sure it's her, otherwise just no. here is an example of the seriously annoying immature behaviour you get;

Good, you gave a negative opinion about your DJs. Now you can present the entire team with it and maybe they'll listen, unlike when everyone hated on me for picking out the entire roster's weak spots and only Adzeh realised what I said was fair and in good faith.
It was somehow better before, what I think should happen of rather than talking about Habbo for the majority of the show, people could include other content, i.e. celebrity gossip, news, sections of funny stories, the wierd and wacky etc. Because really not everyone would like to be tuned into somone saying 'Oh my GOD! Let's go to Habbo, omg I just lsot an HC! omg plz plz donate!' Sure thats alright in moderation but not when the whole show goes like this 'Music- Habbo-Music-Habbo-Music' There needs to be a bit of content in between which a few DJs do, but I think it's not done enough. There are those great DJs which do that and I salute them for that :).

YESH I agree with you, Some of them are so immature, I remember when the DJ's were all really nice, They were like a community and I didn't mind listening to them. Then when Jess started opening apps LOADS (not saying it's her fault:eusa_whis) They started getting loads of crap DJ's.

i agree alot of dj's come across as immature to what ive heard, but maybe they will learn and become mature, in my opinion i feel Hxl should hire some experiance and sometime you just want to chill out listening to the radio but it seems abit too full on all the time, if anyone remembers DJ Kroziun his show was a perfect example of something you could chill out to
KnuxIBF

Honestly, I think that if you stay at a site like HxL for long enough, you do mature.

RareIce
04-10-2008, 08:40 PM
yes obviously hxl has alot of potential in my opinion. You do mature in time maybe the more mature DJ's can guide the less experienced and less mature DJ's then over abit of time they can become better worth while DJ's i was fortunate to get the chances i got at the top radio sites and looking back from when i started to when i finished at Hxl i was obviously a better dj and very much more mature.

I had to open apps and hire more people. In my opinion HxL was stuck where it was and if anything going downhill, no one really had much motivation and new people help a lot. The staff haven't actually changed much lately because it's taken the best part of the year to get the team of DJs I wanted. I honestly think the standard of DJs is so much better than it was, not perfect but people learn and improve from feedback from listeners and management.

We hire all sorts of DJs, experience is good but sometimes people with elss experience are better and different. If every DJ was the same it would be boring and everyone does have to start somewhere.

I think personally Habboxlive has a variety of DJ's for a reason. Theres mature DJ's which tends to be the elder DJ's and then theres the less mature DJ's which tend to be the younger ones.
I think like jess said if the DJ'ing was at the same level all the way through it would be very boring so the variety is good.
There is no way on this earth habboxlive is going down hill. The lsiteners are increasing and the standard of the DJ'ing is rising. I think in another 12 months time its going to be fantastic.
But at the moment Jess and Dann & The rest of the team need credit about how good the habbox radio is and its a crucial part of habbox's entertainment <3

Yeah, I was the "Radio Producer", and by doing my job, I apparently offended some people by saying that the radio was all the same, and it needs much more originality and flare. Especially that "Ostinato" person was having a go at me, but Adzeh completed agreed with what I said in my thread and everyone promptly shut up. But kudos to everyone who supported what I said. HabboxLive won't ever be the same quality as HabboxRadio as they are completely different sites.
I will admit that I don't listen to HabboxLive due to the lack of quality of DJs that I have heard and it is the same music played over and over again!
People are just losing interest in Habbo Radios, they were big a long time ago as they were relatively new but so many years on it has just lost it's creativity.
Misawa - You never did your job as "Radio Producer" No point arguing with me as you know personally know it as we asked you to come up with new and original ideas and you didn't bother :)

Paste and PM, paste and PM me, paste and PM me. I am interested to read it after all this time. :)
And, I fulfilled my position as "Radio Producer" for as long as I could. I did my duty, presenting creative and original ideas consistently, I can even remember some of what I pitched to Adzeh, and organising a live performance by an independent artist. I did what I was asked, but not for long, because I had to go on leave from all of Habbox for, I can't actually remember, but a serious reason. And by the time I was available to return, Adzeh had left unbeknowst to me, and some new person had taken over, didn't know who was who, and let me go as I was on sabatical.

Misawa - You never did your job as "Radio Producer" No point arguing with me as you know personally know it as we asked you to come up with new and original ideas and you didn't bother :)
i agree about people loosing intrest in habbo radios if you look back they was way more popular its just the same there needs to be something creative thats not been done on a habbo radio because it gets quite boring.

Thanks again, Danny.
Adam actually did do quite a bit, especially in the beginning I feel. We all know that at the end you were away due to your band and stuff and Monday night will never be the same.
Yes Hayley I do agree with you about the music that it's often the same old thing, which is or has recently been on the charts. That's the reason I rarely tune in and when I do it's more to people like Mikey, Danny, Jess etc. who play variety music which you've never heard or rarely here and your attracted to that like a magnet and say 'ooh haven't heard that' which makes you interested and stay. Thinking about it I think there was a thread about this before, but maybe you guys should bring it up again.
And, yes Mikey you do learn, well not you (lol jk) but people do learn how to become better after a long period of time, I personally would not compare my quality of DJing when I first started to now!
Yes people eventually get bored of Habbo radios and will usually listen to their own music or their local radios so it may not give you the amount of listeners of the days of Radio Habbo etc. But if you get some good Zen working for you, build up a good community since the time of Adam (Adzeh) and you might find people returning. As far as I was aware there were small groups of DJs before and everyone had a group, unlike one big community as it was before.
It's also sometimes striking a balance, you say hey what do I want; professionalism vs. freshness + opportunity (because everyone has got to start somewhere) or community vs. size and creativity vs. monotony. Now some of them you could pick from but usually here as in life a balance needs to be struck, this balance may make the community better thus in turn having a 'domino' effect making the radio enter a better realm.

I don't think it was due to my band that I went on sebbatical. I think it was something more problematic. I really can't remember, and it was only like a year ago. Things picked up with the band last September when we went to USA, but I had to drop out of it in the end as I just had zero time and wanted to pursue other things.
But yeah, well said, Grig.

To be honest, i never have liked online radio for many valid reasons. The "Dj's" all have a certain 'i'm better than you' feel to them. They only play a very mainstream type of music. There is never any varity, ever. Same with all online radio. There is never anything, unique about it. They never seem to actually take note of requests either, just because the title from a song has dark connotations does not always make it a dark song, but most "dj's" are to arrogant to give it a try. Maybe the people listening might like it, maybe not but there is only one way to find out.
Also what I find tends to happen alot is that "dj's" will get a request having heard a different song by the same artist and it containing crude language that would not be appropriate. Based on this they disgard what the listener wants, thus forcing the listener to have to try again.

Heh.
If you look at my usual song list, it's ain't mainstream :P
Most HxL DJs do play a variety of music, especially as it's one of the main things that's mentioned in reports.
Sometimes, if we don't have requests, we ignore them, or try to get them, but when we play different songs by the same artist, it's to try and at least give you some form of requestability.
The reason similar songs are played is because they are requested. Ofcourse we don't play the same song twice in our slots but if theres a song that everyone likes to hear it gets requested alot and like you said, we don't want to ignore listeners requests.

Tbh, I have NEVER tuned into Habbox!
But I will, and I hope it will be good.
No matter what you may say about variety, there are those that do not follow any variety. This is usually from the listiner base that tunes in, but realising that no one should evolve a show purely on requests, because A LOT and I mean a lot of requests are the same old same old chart songs which have been there for the past 2-4 months and that again puts a different listiner base off. I do thus think this saying is very true 'you can please everyone some of the time or some people all the time' So there we go. Plus that's the only reason why I listen to Mikey on not that many other people, because he plays original music, but even Mikey has his favorites which he re-plays on a weekly basis, which is actually good because they will always remain like that and it'll be a good change from those giving me songs such as 'I kissed a girl' where to be honest if I hear it once more Im just going to kill myslef.
P.S: Mikey still smells even though I may be complimenting him here :O
