View Full Version : Router freezing?
Im having serious troubles with my internet at the moment. I've come to the conclusion that my router is freezing as when i try to visit the router login page via any computer in the house, it takes ages to load and sometimes doesnt even load at all. Im left for ages constantly resolving website addresses. Anyone heard of this before? Im also thinking of upgrading to wireless N, tips?
Cheers in advance

As far as im aware Wireless N isn't a fully established standard yet, itd be best to wait a bit.
Our router does this often, we don't know why, but we have to turn it off and on again every week or so.

you can freeze your router?
where you living?
north pole or sumthing?
Hmm, it's very odd, its only started doing it a couple of weeks ago, and i see know reason for it to suddenly change, I restart it when it gets to much, but even then it doesnt work straight away.
edit: LOL at jak-ish.. o.0 that joke was well original

Well, I imagine buying any router would be an upgrade.
Router's really are cheap, and I imagine you could contact your ISP for a new one.
(well, I can and I am with a mobile telecom provider for broadband)

There lies your problem. There terrible. Because there hardware in the exchanges (not just that, they use LLU, which is terrible.) isn't able to keep up with the demand and they don't maintain them regularly, there greedy and don't care about their customers, even watchdog invited them to come on their show and Orange refused. and there's actually a web forum about the problems people get!
I recommend you switch ISP's straight away! ;)
Ps, Be* Broadband FTW! (I use to have Orange, switched because of terrible service and terrible speeds)

This may be just be the most idiotic thing i've heard today :|. The router obviously came with a power supply which was made sure it powered the router properly... The router also doesn't have its on in-built power supply like PC's so... that was so wrong what you said. Your cool but, just had to say that lol.:D

That's not what he met by underpowered.. He met it isn't powerful enough to handle all this traffic or multiple computer..

Trust you to say that
If it couldn't handle the traffic it would simply deny the traffic, not necessarily crash.

I can see what your trying to say, but its been running the same amount of computers well for years.

As i said then, it must be your ISP. (Small posibility its your phone line but i doubt it).
Yes, but why would that stop the router page loading? That is internal? :s

No, it is quite likely a problem with the router.
Sometimes a router has had it's day and needs replacing. Maybe this is the case here. Also, in general, Belkin routers aren't very good, but there is always circumstances where they are great for people.
I think I may just get a new router, any recommendations? It's lasted longer than I expected tbh.
Look for something Linksys or Netgear branded. Make sure you get the correct type ie. ADSL or cable.
I had a Linksys router before the belkin, never again. I've heard good things about Netgear actually, may invest in one. Yeah, need ADSL, got a crap line up here, although I thought as its a new build BT would have put in fibre optic cable like they said they were doing.
No wonder.
Belkins are generally really bad for being good one minute then just dropping the next.
Belkin 54gs are the worst for it
I've got Netgear WGT624 wireless 108mbps router and Netgear WG511T 108mbps wireless PC Card and get constant (reliable) speeds of 100mbps (it's the most my ISP allows)
You must have an amazing ISP that i've never heard of before to get 100mbps.. I'm pretty sure you mean your network speed there. Yeah we have the 54G.
