Im in yr10 atm, im wondering when will i get my TB jab and if i HAVE to have it done, cus im really scared of having it done and i dont like needles.

well they stopped giving it in my school the year i went up, 2 years ago so i dno if it was just my school or alls chools but yeah. i don't think you have to have it done but i dno, i'd already had mine when i was 6.

They recommend you to have it. I was slightly scared at the time but I just didn't look at the guy putting the needle in my arm. You can't feel it really, but I felt the stuff he injected go in.

My recollection of the TB Jab was horrible arm pain for 15mins afterward, but I'll go with the mass here.

Actually, it is a nessessity, you have to have it done, and if you refuse to have it done in school, you have to have it done at your GP centre. This was brought into force in 2007. The jab was cancelled out of UK public schools in 2005 and then brought back in 2007 as the cases of TB were back on the rise.

The daisy (Pre-injection) doesn't hurt, they try to trick you by saying that theyre rubbing anticeptic on your arm and then when they go to rub they just push the button and it scratches your arm in 6 different places. They then leave it for 30 seconds to let the infection settle in.

The actual TB jab (assuming you do have to have it done, you wont have to have the second stage of the injection if your daisy jab is no longer visible) does hurt, and i'm not going to lie to you on this bit. Whether you look at the injection going in or not, you do feel it, and for about 2 seconds it's quite uncomfortable, and sometimes painful.

Once it's done, don't take the cotton bud or the pressure off the puncture until they tell you, as the hole will fill with puss and this will lead to inflammation that looks really unattractive a few months after youve had your jab done. My boyfriend did this and it looks like a third nipple on his arm.. haha

Thats funny when I went into Year 10, We got told that we no longer need the TB jab. But we can have it done, all we had to do is book a session in the local doctors. Although, Im now in Year 11.

I remember that I got a slip from my doctors asking me to get it done about 6 months after my 15th...

Went in, sat down, lifted my sleeve up and it was over like that. I didn't feel a thing, there's no pain with the needle at all - it's just the arm ache you get the day or so after...

After getting the injection, I got asked if I smoked and left, all over in two minutes.

Someone in my school had tb, it was quite funny because everyone went into mass panic worrying about who had it/if they had it :)

It's not all that bad. I got it done in year 3 'cos my dad worked on a farm and the only bad thing about it was my brother punching it :P

I still have the scar from mine and that happened 4 years ago now?
Its not really a scar more like a lil bubble on my arm.

But yeh the first injection they give you does not hurt.
If you need to have the TB Jab it does hurt a little, but it only hurts when the liquid is going in.

Also the jab is not compulsary.

It's over in like 10 seconds?! Everyone was worrying outside when I was in year 10 and had to get it, I couldn't be arsed with everyone and just walked in and out within seconds. Yeah, it may sting for a few seconds after, but that's it..

i didnt get it 1 year, then the next year i said i didnt feel well, so didnt get it again, then the next year they said i didnt need to get it LOL

but i got my 6 needles 3 times



they got me back tho, i got 2 injections at the same time in each arm, ******s LOL.

i went in nurse told me not to look and jabbed me. she then said my arm will ache and it did but yeah thats pretty much it
