To be honest I think it's just some muscle thing. Operation won't be required and the doctor will probably just give you some deep heat rub or something.
Im not sure, but after the doc helps and stuff, when you excercise from then on, stretch a lot before.
I do and the most serious injury I've ever had is a sprained thumb xD

He'll also probably tell you not to exercise for quite some time, at least until you experience no more pain from your groin. But yeah, as --Pwned said, stretch a lot before you exercise, especially the parts you're going to use the most.

Use some deep heat :)
If your groin is hurting go the doctors immediately. We always get told at training that if we have an injury and dont want to to say because we wont play they will be mad with you because if you bite your lip and dont tell anyone it could be getting worse. Get straight down the doctors and we'll see from their what happens depending on how bad it is. My Sport coach was also telling me today that when he played for a pro rugby club he got a groin injury in a game in Australia and didn't take no mention to it. It ended up getting real bad and he had to go and get a operation 4 years later to remove some muscle around the groin area. Go get it checked.
