Basically I'm supposed to be playing clarinet for GCSE music. I always took it quite seriously but this summer I couldn't find it anywhere. It turned out I left it at school ALL summer!
My teacher is really strict and he already hates me. I can't lie about practising because the reed will be really dry and I'll be really bad at playing. Also I don't know if he knows it's been there all summer.
Can anyone suggest the best thing to do?
Inseriousity.

Say you borrowed someone else's to practice?? lol, I dunno. It's probably best to tell the truth though and say you'll get on top for the performance. when do you have to do it?

Tell the teacher to go **** himself and stick the clarinet up his ****.
A more serious approach would to just be honest about it.

Just be honest, all he can is tell you off.

Just be honest and tell him you left it at school over summer and didn't realise that you had. There isn't much you can do about it but make sure you get loads of practice in to make up for what you missed.
If you lie, it's bound to come out or go wrong at some point.

I will tell the truth, I'm just a bit scared because he's like an ogre when he gets angry. And its very likely that he will ring my parents and then i won't be able to have my party on Friday night.
It will end up wrong if I lie so I'll take the consequences for my forgetfulness!

Well, it's not your fault really. Yeah, you forgot to bring it home but anyone could have done that because I took it for a few weeks and forgot to pick it up sometimes. You've been honest about it and there wasn't much you could do. Just say sorry and suck up to your teacher and your parents if they say you can't have the party.

Just get it as soon as you can and try and practice this week a little bit... then technically when you say you practiced you won't be lying :P
If you have lessons from a tuesday onwards, then go pick it up on monday and practice like hell!
I do piano, and although my teacher is amazing, i still feel that if i didnt practice ill just end up humiliatiated!
Good luck with it tho, and dont lie it'llmake things worse!

I went to my lesson today decided that I would just tell him the truth and hope that he wouldn't ring my parents.
The other person who i'm meant to have lessons with didn't turn up because shes a little bit 'special' so he spent all my lesson time chasing after her.
So in the end I didn't lie or tell the truth... I'm gonna practise like hell this week so by next Tuesday he won't have a clue that I haven't practised for over 8 weeks. =P
