View Full Version : Why am I admin?
Like a few mins ago I had admin.. :S
My name went red, I noticed this because I had a few extra links at the top
one said "open contacts window" or something the other said "mark forums read"
and when I clicked the contacts one, it showed all of the people that were on my friends list (I think most of them admins anyway) and it showed only me as online and my name was red.. :S

Somone might have got into AdminCP and changed all the permissions. Did you actually have the AdminCP option in the bottom right hand corner of the Habbox window?

How did you buy vip? If you did it through SMS and they changed your permission through the admin cp, maybe they give you admin permissions instead of pink vip?
I don't know if that can happen, it's been a while since I've worked on a forum. :P

From A in the list to V there two diffrent places
The perms were gone before I had the chance to look properly. tbh I just saw my name as red but on the main page I don't think I saw the staff pages.
Also I bought my vip a few days ago...

Ah, okay then. Like I said, it's been a while since I've worked on a forum as an admin so I wasn't sure if it was possible or not. :)

VIP is automatic when purchased via paypal but if via sms or for a freind then you can either add it via subscriptions manager or search their name on the user section and when editing them you can click add a subscription and do it there. Or you can just add VIP as an additional usergroup but they would have it forever.

Elkaa once accidently made me a SMod so it can't be that hard. That being said, there are no administrators online so I don't see how it could've happened.

I have been told someone got admin for 10 seconds when supposed to be getting smod as a mistake :p Thats obviously easy to do though as they are like

I think. But I dont think Elliot ahs received any new permisions so if it did happen then I don't know how it could be a mistake ;)

Yes which is what Barkseh said - it's done via subcriptions manager because if you just put them in the usergroup they would have it forever :P.

At e5: You have never been in the Admin group - the latest usergroup change made to your account was on the 14th Sept when you swapped from 'Ruby Members' to Magenta VIP.

It happened because you didnt let the page load, or the page didnt load correctly. So yea, its just a glitch :)
I know, i'm confused cause now when I look at my name on that thingy I still have up (refreshed it) my name is back to normal.. not pink but normal

That has happened to me before, the page didn't load properly and some of the options in the quick link menu appeared on the bar at the top.
but then when I clicked on it, my name was shown red as if I was smod/admin
buttt obviously some error.

That's because you clicked "Open Contacts Popup" on the page which didn't load properly (should be in Quick Links menu), and you have added yourself as a contact.
It does the same with mine.

I didn't know this is what you meant e5 I thought you meant your name was Red on the 'Who's Online' list at the bottom :P
It's not a bug that's what the Popup Contact page is like on every vBulletin forum - online friends show up as Red and bold and offline the normal colour.

Oh well, can't fault me for saying that I thought I was admin/smod when it showed my name and red and then suddenly it didn't on that contacts page thing.
Also i refreshed twice and those 2 links were still there on my bar thing, so twice the page didn't load properly?
