Seriously, did they not even think to make it system friendly, look at this:

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n92/General-Jazza/wts.png

A media player, minimized to system tray playing a track encoded at 192kb/s should not use up near enough 2/3rds as much RAM as WoW on full settings. Get your **** together Apple.

iTunes: Built for Apple where you can upgrade your RAM to stupidious proportions.

Really? I didn't know 4GB was that stupid? Apart from the Mac Pro where you can have 10+. I heard there is a few problems with iTunes 78 on Windows but I can't test that.

There were originally BSOD problems because Apple were using out dated drivers for iTunes, in turn making any Vista or XP systems BSOD.

This is what the usage of a media player should be (I'm not trying to start a windows / mac argument, I'm just showing comparison):

http://jewbear.net/img/1221816494168.jpg

200mb is way too much, 5mb is a reasonable amount for playing tracks / browsing my library. That's minimized to my taskbar though, when it's not it uses 8mb which is very good. It's a 218kb vbr song I'm playing.

I just use WMP, much faster :P

Creative Media Source only uses 19,420 K which is Creatives transfer, music and video program. It should be near that or between that and Windows Media Player.

Bad move for Apple I guess. I should uninstall my Apple stuff, the annoying update screen frustrates me!

This is on my laptop, it has NO data in the iTunes library apart from 1 Vista sample song. Gotta remember it spreads it out over several services like iPod Service.exe

I cannot believe what iTunes 8 did to my computer, it was half way through installing and then it closed explorer.exe, which gets rid of the task bar etc, so I had to restart. Because I was only part way through installing iTunes 8 it decided it would take other things with it. It halted MSN from opening and it deleted all my Firefox saved passwords which as a result I had to use an old backup of Firefox with old cookies etc so it's a right mess now.

It also did numerous other things to the computer and deleted it's self. I had to boot in safe mode and system restore. It's a shame no one else produces a decent music player with decent software cause atm I feel I've got no choice but Apple. Damn monopoly's!!

All Mac users say iTunes works better on Mac, which is most probably true but imo they should treat Windows users equally, if not better as if it wasn't for them supporting Windows users the iPod would be nothing.

What's wrong with Creative? A good program for music is SongBird. I recommend it :P Shame it doesn't work with iPods. Apple seem to have messed up big time with iTunes... So did the programs get removed with iTunes or did it halt them?

How's that even possible :S Is that on Vista or XP?Vista. I can't understand it myself but iTunes has mucked around for me on updates before and I'm very confident iTunes messed them up, especially since it decided to delete it's self and a system restore solved it.

Creative don't do players over 30GB though :(

If it removes explorer.exe simply ctrl alt del and go File > New Task > explorer.exe, not exactly hard is it :|

I'm pretty surprised iTunes is messing up their system, I can't test it. But when I have a chance downstairs, I see if it does anything "Odd".

iTunes 8 secret:

In iTunes 8, they actually downgraded the volume limit on iPods to obey new European laws about MP3 players. Not even kidding, iPods are well quieter when they go onto iTunes 8.

I download it as soon as I heard about it and have no complaints.
