Hotmail is awful.
Slow, unorganized, lack of features, lack of space, and really - really unsecure. It's not hard to get your hotmail account 'hacked' into.

It is slow, but I haven't noticed a lack of features and space. Yeah, it is realy easy to get into someones hotmail account. Hopefully Microsoft will remove the revert page in the update.

It's a mess, too confusing and far too many adverts. Very slow and insecure.
The main thing for me is spam, the spam filters are atrocious to say the least and because hotmail is so big, spam bots are continually guessing email addresses so it takes no time at all for one to track you even if you've never gave the email out.
Gmail solved all these problems years ago, another good thing about gmail is POP3 and IMAP/SMTP Access so you can access it through a mail application of your choice or on your mobile etc.

Our schhol has SIMS that allows / disallows email at certain times when the teacher askes for it.

I don't use hotmail site itself, but I use my hotmail account using Outlook, that's because it's quicker for me really.
Dunno whether school will block it because people use it for homework/schoolwork etc.

Exactly my own opinions. I love being able to have all my mail accounts accessed through Mail.app, and it bugs me to no end that I can't access any Hotmail ones unless I log in to Hotmail's webmail service.
Oh, and don't get me started on the adverts in the signatures...

I only use hotmail for MSN. I switched to hotmail about a month ago to gmail, and now to mobileme. I think Microsoft killed themselves on this one, they don't allow people to automatically forward email to a non @hotmail.com email. Apple isn't helping either without integrating MSN with their Mail app and iPhone and iPod Touch. :P

Its a mess and is confusing? Let me see you do anything better, IMO I like Hotmail.
One Advert at the top of the page...
Spam, meh, I like to filter my own out TBH.
Insecure? Let me see you fight against millions of users. Personally, I have only been "hacked" once, through my own stupidity as a fricken noob when I was 7. But low and behold, I got the account back and everything is fine, I learnt from that experiance.
It is insecure tbh, all you need is for the person you want to hack to send you an email, and you have to know theier date of birth, pretty easy stuff to do.
But yeah, I like hotmail :) I don't think its that bad tbh.

But low and behold, I got the account back and everything is fine, I learnt from that experiance.First of all it is insecure, it has improved slightly in the last year or two with the introduction of Postscodes or ZIP Codes but too many times people have pretended they've lost their account, complained to MSN Support and been given the account!
That one advert is annoying, it's usually animated and stuff like 'Deal or no deal', it also advertises on the bottom of your emails. And why go for advertising when you can go for a provider with hardly any advertising? Gmail just do some text adverts at the side of your email, which are actually more useful than they are annoying as they're related to the email your reading.
Mess and Confusing? The whole live/passport/hotmail network confuses me I'm afraid, I tried to sort out my options the other day but I just kept bumping into the wrong 'Options', it doesn't really matter if I can't build a better email service provider? Because I could use a client of my choice or use gmail's webmail which is incredibly clean and easy to use, and a lot faster too as it's not got many graphics.
Spam? Well if you like manually sorting spam I guess that's up to you but most people, including myself, get sick of sorting spam out, especially when you get a lot. Gmail's spam filter's have never slipped up once, and considering I get around 150 spam emails a month that's good.

One link on the site means you only need someones answer to their secret question to get the account back...
Don't need ZIP/Post code or DOB...
Really unsafe.

Well stop giving your email out to p*rn and other sites you dont need to subscribe to and you wont get any spam! Hotmail is easy to get your account password restored because so many people use, a lot of them dont know much about computers, they need to make things like password resets etc easily accessable and easy to fill in for the 'noobs' its not Microsofts fault if some 'realy cool' people think there clever by hacking hotmail accounts.
I personally use windows live mail at home because its easier than loading a webpage and I like its simplicity, at school I use Hotmail though

That's one source of spam and also there's bots automatically guessing email address's, you could never subscribe to anything and you'd still end up with spam.
