I'm not an expert but 8800 was top of the range of the 8-series, 9800 is top of the range of the 9-series, and the 9 series is newer so I imagine the 9800 is better however I've no idea about ATI.

Ill just say whateveryone has said, 9800GT, I have the 8500GT and it's a fab card so the 9800GT will be EVEN better
