It's been wanted before and I'm sure I heard it causes lag to the forums. They argue that you can just send a link instead, I'd like it but I'm not fussed with the links.
Also, what if someone posted an indecent video on the forum for everyone to see?

See this is a bit of a tough one.
Yeah, it'd be nice to be lazy and just click play and all that hoo-hah but then you've got the issues with forum rules and moderation because every moderator would have to watch every clip to check it wasn't rude/swearing/insulting etc etc
External clips are covered because it doesn't matter if its rude as no rude content is on the forum. Then also you've got the issue of everyone spamming the forums with youtube vids but it isn't pointless like if I post about Grey's Anatomy in Television someone then posts a grey's anatomy music vid and then it becomes as 7 page thread about everyone's favourite music vid WITH clips and it is all a bit 'argh'.
It isn't practical for this forum.
What i was going to say is what the guy above me put, it could be abused and then HxF management would be held responsable.
Its a no from me, sorry.

This has been suggested before and it was declined with a valid reason. However, I cannot remember said reason. Although I'm sure it would be abused in one way or another.

I would love this idea, and I mentioned it previously too!
I hope this comes into action, makes things a lot easier.

It's been mentioned at least 4 times (twice by me :P) never got impletemented.
Even though it is a simple bb code :)
fully behind it, would make threads much neater.

No, I'd be sick of waiting to have the embedded videos show up on my page, plus people will go over the top with them.
Just stick with external links, they work just as fine.

no, mindless sheep will be posting rick roll videos getting hard off them.

As long as -
An option was created to turn it off for people who don't want to see the videos (it would just display a link instead).
There were rules to stop people posting stupid things like Rick Roll.
The first thing came to mind for me is that it would have to be necessary for someone to warn that a video may contain swearing because that falls under the Habbox rules and if someone didn't post a warning, how a (super) moderator would deal with the user (but that'd be managements job to decide). Also, every now and again, inappropriate videos can slip through the net so that could become a problem with people abusing the new feature. I honestly wouldn't mind doing an extra but of moderating, ensuring that the videos are clean and such - Like I said, it'd have to be compulsory for members to forewarn about swearing and such like most do when posting links. I can't actually see this being implemented but it does exist on other forums and proves pretty successful so management should definitely look into it properly. I'm sure for the first few weeks it would be used pretty much everywhere but like most things, it'd die down and probably become confined to the spam section (aswell as the Entertainment forums).
As long as you don't get idiots posting 'Funny Fight' and then you click play and it's rick roll but the preview that actually shows on the 1 second picture preview at the front is a pic of a kid or something..
Hmm, after reviewing this, im not so sure about i first said. If there were rules about it and law and order, it could work, and as Slowpoke said, an option to turn it off.

I'm not sure if it lags up the forum but I'm pretty sure it does. Regardless, it makes it possible to put things like rick roll and innappropriate content on the forum which just makes things annoying.
I'd rather not have the feature than have to add in a set of rules to create, enforce, and make members remember to govern it, since its pretty nonessential and easy enough to click a new link :P
What's wrong with posting a link that people can just click anyway? :P

sounds a good idea, and mods have to watch videos anyway because you can still link to inappropriate content, and the video doesn't automatically play.

I couldn't really care less. It doesn't lag the forums or slow my internet down so if its what everyone wants just do it.

This poll has been going on for nearly a month now and it seems there isn't really an overwhelming margin of agreement or disagreement. I can see why people would like to have it, but with those pro's are a lot of cons. Innappropriate material would be a major reason against this.

I say yes but the moderators should have to approve the video before it gets posted ;)

I moderate another forum which is a family orientated, and we have brought the embedding option into play there.
We have given the members a chance, and decided to trust them. Most of them follow the rules we have set, and decided to give it a go. It turned out way better than expected, we put in a rule which clearly said "no outside links to YouTube". The only way to have YouTube in your post was to embed it as the video's code. We set it so the "other videos" and the "embed this" did not appear at the end, and underneath the video, respectively.
Just thought I'd add that in. It has worked on that forum, it just depends whether you feel the members can be trusted enough here. :)

Yes but how many members did this forum have couple of hundred ect ?
Habbox has alot alot more and you have to look on the bigger picture that with this and think wile on your forum only 1 or 2 used it to break rules on here that could be in the 10's like 20 - 30. That level is not accseptable.
It would also cause alot more work for moderators remeber we do have lives ourselfs as well ;).

Although I voted no and agree that it will bring more rulebreaking, I can't see it getting to the point where moderators will have their lives disrupted by it. It would just be another duty for your job - if at any point the team were to struggle I'm sure more moderators would be hired ;)!
I say no as otherwise it would need a revision of the rules again and due to that revision cause moderators more time. Also I will hate to see the "Post the coolest thing you found on myspace here!" threads which will slow down load times for threads.

I say no becuase it will become irrataing! Having videos all over the place that need to load and used purely for annoyance more than in a constructive way. Not to mention the ones who will abuse it.
