Hi, i am chris and i am here today to show you and tell you how to keep your PC protected agaisnt online threats.
Firstly your going to need a Anti Virus, these can be free like AVG Free edition or you can pay for a suite or just the antivirus .

I recomend AVG Free edition , its free and its pretty good detection rates.

secondly you're going to need a firewall, theres a good one called Zonealarm, again you could pay some money and get a suite with a firewall, antivirus and other features or you could just buy a firewall.

What is a Anti Virus?
A antivirus stop malicious and potential threats from entering your PC, if it didnt detect it when it creeped its way in, (the onguard protection)
The Anti-Virus should tfind it when you do a routine scan, once a week / month.

What is a firewall?
Yup you guesed it, its a wall of fire, no not really but it is that was towards hackers and threats that may try and access your computer or a virus that might be sending your credit card details back to its HQ.

A firewall is great to have.

Whats a suite?
Well, There are Security Suites that include,

Firewall,
Antivirus,
Spamfilters
and so on..
heres mine!

Also, Updates are a essnetial, so always check for updates of new definition files to be able to detect thoose horrible viruses.

Other :

There are also other types of scanners, such as Spybot Search And Destroy, a program that detects bots and keyloggers (keylogger - program that remembers every keystroke, used in collecting passwords)

its a free program and doesnt take up much space.

AVG : http://free.avg.com/

Zonealarm : http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/catalog/products/znalm/comparison.jsp

Spybot : http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

Bullguard 2 Month Free Trial : http://www.bullguard.com/try/bullguard-internet-security.aspx

As you can see, you dont get much in 'free' programs, but the expense isnt that much.

Whats £40 a year to keep your pc protected from all thoose bugs?
Also, There is a possible chance of being totally infected and your local pc shop will charge a hell of a lot! up to £100 for a total removal and sort out!

Some packages also include cleaning up tools, tools that will increase your pc's speed by sorting out all the old crap,
a one i recomend is CCleaner,

CCleaner : http://www.ccleaner.com/

Thanks for reading!
