well for the last week or so my laptop has been running really slow... i've done lots of different scans, used ccleaner, removed all the programs i don't want, de-fragged the hard drive but it's still as slow as it was, so what else can i do?! i'm running vista btw.

Your using Vista so it should defrag regularly automatically.
To be honest you've had the right approach to it and they're most the things you can do with the software to speed it up, if things got dire I'd try a fresh install of Windows but the way to probably go now is to look into investing in some RAM for your laptop.

Go into the task manager when you start up everyday. there will be several processes you can shut down which really dont need to be there.
Or buy some more RAM :)

i've got 2gb ram, that should be enough shouldn't it?
and what does a disk cleanup do lol? will it delete anything like music/films.

2GB should be enough, if its running slow on that you either have LOADS of processes running in the background or you have a virus :8
Get some registry cleaners and stuff.

I think it just compresses files that can be compressed and deletes files that are completely pointless. It won't delete anything like your own files but I think it's just computery ones.
Drop it off something high, will speed up to about 30MPH and hit the floor with quite some force so you better put something soft there, i.e Dead puppies they are quite soft. cause it would hurt to do it to a live one.

Put it on wheels.
Or you can search on the internet for one of those top 10 ways of speeding up your computer. Just search tips & tricks on vista performance in google and usually tons comes up.

Easiest way is to just re-install windows.
I'm running xp and barely use our vista comp so somebody correct me if this is wrong:
My computer (Windows button+E) >>
Right click C: drive >>
"Disk Cleanup" >>
Let it work stuff out, tick all the things you want cleaned >>
"Ok"
Not sure if it will help majorly but doing it reguarly helps :)
