As if not, that's very small-minded of you.

Basketball's not just limited in certain countries. It's actually quite a worldwide sport. Even the Africans are starting to pick it up. The reason you think basketball's only popular in some countries is probably because the NBA is American. But in fact, people all over the world are watching and playing basketball. And if you look at where players come from in the NBA, quite a few superstars are from Europe and South America. A good example is Toronto Raptors, who has players from Argentina, Italy, Spain, USA, Australia and Croatia.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying that basketball is the most popular sport, I was simply saying that basketball isn't as limited in terms of popularity by country as Sarith said.

Cricket is a worldwide followed sport, the number of fans from India alone could make up for sports like Basketball's popularity worldwide in the one country.
Football
Cricket
Tennis
Sounds about right anyway..

- Soccer (Just fancied annoying everyone, when people say we're doing Football in PE my friend always says 'Well I heard we're doing soccer today instead', he annoys everyone so much). Soccer is huge throughout the world in almost every country.
- Tennis, perhaps not thought of so much but this is widely played in most countries, it is very widely known and played even if it isn't watched as much
- Basketball, very big throughout America, rather large in Europe and China too.
F1 is hardly sport and is only popular within Europe and South America, it's not very popular in North America and is steadily growing in Asia. Golf or Cricket must be fourth or fifth.

Football is 100% number 1, it's also the most financial side of sporting industry, then it's the American football for the financial affairs, but it isn;'t that popular here etc in Europe/asia.
Anybody find a source with the top 10 sports word wide? I looked but can't find.

I prefer "Another site"'s view haha, exactly the same as mine :8 But that's a surprisingly close figure between "Soccer" and Cricket in the first one.

It logically doesn't make any sense what so ever. I don't believe there statistics are right on that one.

American football: The only game where you don't use your feet or a ball and still call it football.
A better questoin would have been "the best three top sports known worldwide" as it differs between countries so this would only cause arguements
me (comming from USA) prefferably like weight lifting and basketball, don't think much of soccer, but everyones entitled to their own opinion

no we haven't, which is why no one out of the US cares. you can find world class tiddlywinks i bet. I'm pretty sure subbutteo has a world series. just because your world wide doesnt mean the world cares. basketball is a bit different, europe loves it, us guys, not so much.

lolwut? asia just wna be you guys. why would we care about being good at something no one cares about. tbh I dont mind europe 'sucking' at it because no ones intrested. ;)
but football IS universally cared about. over half of the worlds population are 'fans' of football. you even have the MLS with some decent players. asia are getting there with football too, just manchester united though...
