Just wondering if there's any official time period when you're classified as bumping a topic instead of posting?
If you understand what I'm trying to say :P

B10. Do not bump threads - It is not allowed to bump up a thread. Simply wait for someone to reply instead. If the thread is old, make a new thread instead. You can reply to an inactive thread as long as the last post was made less than or exactly 10 days ago.
That make sense?
I think it should be conditional.... if its a pointless bump then fair doos but if its valid to the thread and would prevent a second being made then it should be fine.
Thats what I think anyway.

I really think it should be based on the clarity of the post.. and the purpose.
If it is a post saying "LOL" from a thread back in 2006, that's stupid and pointless.
But if it is for something say.. a news report.. from a month or two ago.. posting an update on it would be better then making a whole new thread for the same thing.

Agreed, could be looked in to.

Even if a bump is 6 months on if the post is still valid then I would hope it would be left to run :) Its not that long ago mods might have been pulled up for not closing a thread bumped after 10 days but I think there has been some common sense allowed recently which is very good for the running of the forum and the moderation team :eusa_clap :8

If it's over 10 days old just PM a super mod and get permission before bumping it.

above is a very good idea.

I think it should be unlimited too, no bumping always seemed like a really silly rule.

When the rule was first introduced (I can't remember whether it was when I was away or before I came MM, either way I wasn't there) I always took the line that it goes against common sense and judgement. I have actually put it to forum management that it be revised to leave it to the moderators' discretion, we shall wait and see :)

I do indeed, but I'm extremely fortunate to have such a hard working team of moderators behind me :)

There is no set time. It depends on the topic and the post added to discussion. Not all threads have a set time line so that rule should probably be edited to make it fair for all threads, by saying it varies on the thread and the information added in a new post.
I've not seen any problems with bumped threads past this time limit though, so the Moderation Team must be doing a good job :P

refering to an earlier post abount conditioning
yeah there should be conditions my pokemon platinum thread for instance it stopped 25th i posted around the 8th saying about all the updates
and that got closed due to "bumping"
although it was perfectly reasonable
