I have a two or three year old Packard Bell Media Centre system. It runs XP like a charm and upgrade advisor says that my system can handle Vista, but I'm not sure how well.

I have 1.5 Gigs of Ram, will be upgrading it to 2 in the near future.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2 GHz processor.
ATI Radeon Express 200 Graphics Card

Will it run well?

Thanks, in advance. :)

Could you recommend one? Bearing in mind I never plan to play games with this machine. :)

Thanks for your input but, I've been using Vista for over a year on my laptop and I loved every minute of it, I'm just wondering whether it'll work as well on this PC.

Hmmm.. 50 - 100 quid I guess. I have no idea what will get me a good gfx card. ;P

Your graphics card will be most likely fine to run Aero, unless you start playing games and you want more?

Anybody who is a Vista hater

a) Has never used it.
b) Has used it in its early life.
c) Is stupid.
d) Needs a better computer.

I have been using vista for a long time (since it was first released) on a fairly low-end laptop 1.6CoreDuo, 1GB RAM and its excellent.

:D

What it is, is they hear people who know alot about computers moan about it.. mostly during its first month of release when like any new software it had bugs. since then this has spread like wildfire so everything thinks its fact.
Its shocking that i'll say that its home users who dislike Vista even though Vista is aimed at home users.

1.5GBs of RAM will run Vista, but too run Vista well which is what the thread specified you'll need 2GB of RAM which is generally used as the average for RAM these days.
