View Full Version : Habbox History

It's really good to see the 'Habbox History' in place, however there are many errors, huge inaccuracies and I imagine sierk hasn't read any of it before it was published.
From the article:
Mizki was the person that founded Habbox. She has helped make Habbox a popular fansite like it is today. She was the first ever owner of Habbox and built the first ever version of Habbox. Without Mizki, there would be no Habbox. She then left Habbox and gave the ownership of the empire she had built up to our current owner sierk.
When sierk took responsibility for Habbox it was nothing more than a seedling which he helped to mature from an acorn to what is now a very well established oak tree. Mizki who was an ex hobba stayed on as staff when sierk took charge.
From the article:
Jrh2002 helped found HabboxForum. He was the owner of the now very popular HabboxForum. He was the first member on the forum as well as the creator of HabboxForum. Jrh2002 also was the manager of HabboxLive as it is called now. He then later progressed his way all the way to Assistant General Manager. He later resigned from his AGM position in 2007.
The above is not correct and the following is:
- Founded and owned HabboxForum.com and paid for it all did not help found it and set it all up including staff permissions etc. sold to sierk
- Founded owned as well as managed habbox radio (although Wayne_J an ex hobba helped with most of the site) until closing it and starting radio habbo (although habbox live is good habbox radio was a totally different site)
- Ex Hobba
Properclone was never a hobba. He also became News Manager the same day I became Competitions Manager.
DJ-3000 was a HabboxLive Radio Manager. He played a big part in the running of the radio and helped create the popular radio HabboxLive now is.
DJ-3000 was never a part of HabboxLive, and from memory Billy took over the radio when jrh left. DJ-3000 was Forum Manager and Help Desk Manager.
JackHB was amongst many things also an ex News Manager.
I've already checked with jrh2002 for information and I know there is much more that needs editing.
jrh2002 has asked me to add this to my post:
Habbox Radio
- OWNED and MANAGED BY jrh2002 not Mizki from start to finish of the site
- Habbox Radio was closed and became radio habbo due to issues at habbox that were badly affecting the site and staff
habbox live was a brand new site and nothing to do with habbox radio and opened 2 weeks after jrh2002 closed hxr
jrh2002 quit as radio manager (only wanted to be there till jess took charge) and then became an AGM.
Can I ask who wrote this?

Before I post I do want to say; Its nice too see that it has been put together, but a lot of it is wrong.
I don't feel as though enough research has been put into it, for example Jacko2kn3 has been missed off, he was an Assistant Site Manager along with me.
It says JackHb was a Habbox Forum Manager, well I wasn't :s Assistant Site Manager (Forum).
It looks as though you have skimmed through the the announments forum and not gone into depth.
And I swear I created that list of important dates which is fine for you to use, however it needs updating as that was only a draft when I was there.
A version should have been sent to us first so we could proof read it lol :D I am not slating the person who wrote it, as it was probably someone who was not around back then, however there are a good few mistakes which could have been easily missed with a bit of research
lol, that is sooo badly written.

Wasn't Seacat something important for the forum, or is it only the majorly important people (even though Seacat did aload of things)?

I got this pre-release and made some changes, looks like half haven't been made. I had submitted some changes before reading this thread, including reordering the staff, changing some descs.
They included:
- Jrh founded the vB forum
- DJ running HxR and HxHD, and being the best known forum manager (IMO it wasn't Ash, cool as he was)
- Jack being AGM not FM (or was it ASM when you were staff?)
there was more as well.
Any further changes will be sent on to our content team, I have no idea who wrote it but I feel like this thread might be embarassment enough, I haven't asked OSH.
Jack > Yeah you're right there are AGMs and ASMs who were left off, from memory Baving (well there's a reason for that un), Dora, Jacko. We'll have to overhaul it and make additions but credit to the content team for making the attempt, it can always be improved :)
Sorry but i lol'ed. Why was this even put onto the site in the first place i mean come on.
He was site manager. He was cool. I can't think of anything to say. Awesome.
If your going to hire articles staff ,(or whatever the person wrote this is), at least make sure they can write something half good?

Well they were a content designer, thus not entirely hired for writing ability, we have a little better writer being assigned to it now :)
They did make an attempt at it, and they put work into it, who knows they may just not be the best writer in the world and actually put in a lot of effort.
Looking back I think that it might not be as obvious for everyone else what people did, I also think the title switch from Assistant Site Manager to Assistant General Manager mighta thrown whoever it was off.

The dates on the Habbox History page are a bit messy:
02-Apr-2008
3-Apr-2008
15-07-2008
01-09-2008
01-09-2008
01-09-2008
27-09-2008
Either keep to digits or to short-handed dates, not both :P
Looks interesting though. Probably should add someone about how Habbox because no.1 site for rare values and why. And judging by the dates, Seacat still works for Habbox somewhere :P Might be best to hide Habbox History until it's complete and near accurate.

To be honest I don't think those silly comments "best forum manager" "best general manager" are necessary. It's all a bit bias with a bit of arse licking. As Ash was my favourite forum manager over that inbred DJ anyday. So everyone has different views.

:o great idea if done correctly.
I had to log in to post here.
the person who wrote this is a moron (no wonder they didnt put their name the it as its totally wrong lol) seems to have guessed most of it and the person who posted it on the site and allowing it to be posted is just as bad.
For the forum part i will add
the phpbb was opened by sierk and was at habbox.com/forums
phpbb was lost so jrh2002 bougt a vbulletin license and bought habboxforum.com and set it all up and paid for the first years hosting etc.
managed hxf , gave all staff their permissions, set up the vip system and lots more.
sold to sierk to concenrtate on habbox radio which was NOT habbox live.
I hope everybody who sees any errors points them out if they have all week.

sierk seems like a good option, he's been there from start to finish and should know who's what and what started where :P
Probably a bad idea to release and even announce Habbox History onto Habbox. The smart thing to do would be to make it as best as possible, then release it and any problems can get corrected (which would all be small errors if you make it the "best" copy). nvr, remove the page now and copy and paste the text into PMs and give it to MissAlice and everyone involved, seems like a wise idea than to humilate the people behind the page further...

Wow I'm more ******ed than I thought ;o My mistake, we'll make some fixes. I guess I should check announcements too :P
I think the reason this got overlooked was OSH and I had pointed out the original wasn't very good, so the content designer got taken off the job and a new trialist who takes a little more time with his work was put on it. However the trialist thought that certain bits were done and simply added to the unfinished Habbox History etc. So he missed the mistakes. These will be fixed, but not everything is as it seems so if you find any problems post it here or PM me.
Its unfortunate that it wasn't released in tip top shape but the intent was good.
Callum.

On the 4th September 2004, it was announced that Habbox, which had now been open for fourteen months, was going to be in the first ever top 20 official Habbo Fansites List. By now Habbox already had it’s own forum and radio which both remain strong today. Over the New Year and in January 2005, Habbo Hotel ran a set of prestigious awards! Habbox scooped the Best Fansite Award with over 60% of the votes, and HabboxRadio (now known as Habboxlive) won the best Habbo Radio Station! By now, Habbox was one of the top fansites around and had some of the best rare value guides around!
When habbox radio closed and became radio habbo we took EVERYTHING with us and NOTHING was left for Habbox Live which opened 2 weeks later starting afresh so please stop saying habbox radio changed its name to habbox live as habbox live was a whole new station that took a very long to to go from the abortion it was to the great success it deservedly is today.

Habbox was going to be removed no matter what due to the new hotel manager and unfortunatly that picture was given as the reason but once all the sulake staff got emailed regarding it impetuous.net was forced to close so callie shot herself in the foot and all the scandal made habbox even more popular.

Yup me, Cookeh and Baving got missed of the HabboxLive bit too.
Bi!!y then stepped down as Habboxlive Manager but there was a twist, Adzeh, an up and coming Radio DJ became HabboxLive manager!
Me and DJ-Cookeh took over HabboxLive when Bi!!y resigned and then DJ-Cookeh resigned and Angel-Light become Assistant Manager again then Angel-Ligh resigned again then Baving become Assistant Radio Manager with me. Then I resigned in 2006, I think it was and Adzeh got made radio manager with Angel-Light.
Good idea whoever decided to write it and it's set out very well too, nice and easy to use. As others have said, it's just your research that let you down.

What did he do? Also when was this?
Callie said jump and he did.
She offered him a few little special things if he closed HXHD opened his own site and own help desk. He took the majority of HxHD staff with him and practically told us all to **** off, if it wasnt for Habbox he would of been a 'normal' habbo. He planned it all behind everyones backs and he was too close to his sister.
However Callie used and abused him.

I never really liked HxTV, although some people really put some work in it..
Most people really didn't have the skill to turn a pixelated game, into a video which you would want to watch.
It was always JPEG quality images of people with speech bubbles telling stop-motion stories, which always lost my attention.
Some hard work went into it though ;P

I remember his, and those were really the only ones that actually caught my eye.
The rest never had potential.
I just don't think the site in general had potential.

As I am in charge of the site in general I take the blame for these pages not being what we hoped them to be. Obviously we didn't take enough time over ensuring that the pages were factually correct and obviously things didn't come out at our usual level of quality.
I'm disappointed and ashamed at this to be honest and I apologize to all of you. I will do all I can to sort this out before we re-release. :(
Again, apologies and thanks for the feedback.
Inseriousity.

If it's any consolation those non-old members did not find any mistakes in the articles :P (of course we wouldn't because we'd be about as clueless as the person who did it by the sounds of it...) so all we really say is well done for taking the time out to do something as big as this for other people's benefits :D

It was checked over by staff who were not really that *old* in terms of Habbox's history and the original person who collected the information for the pages and wrote them has since left the team. We didn't realize when we finished the page that there were so many problems and again I apologize for this.

I think on previous history pages there was a similar problem which got rectified in feedback. Maybe for all history stuff it could be posted for us all to contribute to help get right. nothing to lose sleep over and all will be put right im sure :) you should have said due to the lack of response in asking for help we have made up most of it so that it makes you all come forward requesting things to be added/removed/altered ;)

Oooooh I see, when was this and how old was dj 3000?

I think it's now irrelevant and I feel for them, because they didn't get the support they needed. Many hands make lighter work, and in this case it was much needed. They knew next to nothing about me other than I donated furni, a pretty sad claim to fame.
Anyway I am pleased to see someone now taking full responsibility to put it right.

Not even the years you put into managing Habbox's competitions, the countless hours of events, and every other little thing you've done to make Habbox what it is?

Yeah, pretty sad, here's what was said:
Missalice was Habbox's first ever Competition Manager and helped make the Habbox competitions department what it is today. She still visits the forum everyday and lately has donated over 100 hc sofas for the department.

Yeah, pretty sad, here's what was said:
MissAlice ran the competitions all on her own :o thinking up 100s of different ones (a number of which have now been recycled and made a return) I find the fact of them saying she helped make the department what it is today insulting :o you just have to look at competitions and you will see that they were at their most popular under MissAlice and then they took a huge nose dive once she left. They are picking up now due to good management but still not on the level they once were.

He then later progressed his way all the way to Assistant General Manager.
:o I quit as radio manager out of frustration at some nameless person and was then asked to do a job which required me as a AGM which I yet again quit because I could not work with that nameless person.
I did'nt progress anywhere and i would like to think as forum and radio owner i was classed higher than a AGM in my time. I always say once you leave somewhere never return and that would have been for the best looking back.

They knew that if they needed any help just to ask. There were other people working on the pages but they left/got fired/had internet problems for months. They've been in progress since march.
and tbh, if anyone's to blame its my fault for not reading through the pages in detail and just going by the list produced by OSH of changes to be made in the final stages so it could be released as part of this sunday's updates.

Who is DJ-3000 and what did he do?Yeah I totally see what you mean, it's all pre-2006 stuff from what I can gather. I must admit though I've learnt so much reading this entire thread lol.
I'll leave the history to everyone else but on the 'Hall of fame', it needs more dates, it just says when MAD resigned as managert, we need information like what he was promoted from and when. This wouldn't take too much to find out either. Links to forum announcements wouldn't take a miss either.
Perhaps there could be timeline for specific jobs such as 'General/Site Managers' and other major positions at Habbox, --SS-- made a good one for the HxHD Managers.
