View Full Version : Little laptop
Yeah, i'm looking for a small laptop, I think they call them netbooks these days, i've got a maximum budget of £300.
I was looking at the asus eeepc with 1gb ram and 80gb hd, but then saw an advent one with a bigger screen
and it looks a bit better, but it has the same specs and the same price.
Advent:

ASUS ee pc with linux, then upgrade to XP torrent :]
Where would be a better place to get the eepc from then? Ideally I want to buy it on wednesday on my lunch break from college. I just noticed that the advent one has the double the processor speed of the eeepc. I can get a legal free copy of XP through MSDNAA, so I suppose I could do that, but it's a bit annoying :p

Well they both have their goods and bads, tbh it goes on personal preference.
Ah right, okay, has anyone had any experiance with advent? I know there a cheap make, but i'm pretty sure they are better than acer?

I've only had bad experience with Advent, laptop always used to break, now it's dead forever.
Although that could be down to me always spilling stuff on it.
Ah, that's probably a good reason for it to break then.
I think I shall go with the advent, let you know how I get on on wednesday.

There were problems with it before I first spilled anything on it though :)
e.g. keys randomly deciding not to work for a bit

That "free" netbook... if you cancel your contract or w.e you have to give it back LOL
Haha, yeah I was looking at that offer today in Canterbury. Also realised it would work out a lot dearer than just buying the laptop and getting the 3 pay as you go mobile broadband..
Well I shall be off to canterbury tomorrow to purchase the advent, that is depending on whether im feeling any better though.

Went out and bought the Advent 4211 this morning, it's very good actually :) Battery has lasted much longer than I expected, also it hasn't seemed to get stuck once yet, very good :)

4211's ftw! own asus all day. Asus = over priced and have less features, would recommend to anyone wanting an asus.
Asus actually have wireless N in them.. but thats the only extra feature I know of, I think someone told me about something else as well, but I can't remember.

They have better battery also, but i'd sacrafice that + wirless N for the 80GB HD, and better webcam, mic, and bluetooth ect.
