The Godfather Part I is grossly overrated. It's 3 hours of unneeded scenes and dialogue. The two sequels outshine it immenseley.

Well if it's their favourite film I'm pretty sure they're going to give it 10/10. I know I'd give my favourite film 10/10. The general public don't rate films seriously - If they love it, then to them it's a 10/10.

So if you have never given out a 10/10, and never will for no film is perfect, the highest rating you'll ever give is 9/10.
Thus, 9/10 is the highest that means that 9/10 is perfect, you never rate a film as perfect so you give it an 8/10.

You can rate a film however you like. I don't even rate films in stars or digits unless I'm asked. I'm not the kind of person who would give 10/10 to High School Musical like a lot of people here probably would. In my book 10/10 is full marks, thus perfect - the highest I have ever rated is 9, or if you are picky, 9.5/10.
