In spam your post count should increase. It doesn't matter what the post is about its still a post.

no way lol. i like to post in spam because i can post as many times as i want and my post count won't increase & i wanna keep it that way!! that would have to be the same for sub-forums for eg KKK and some people have 1000 odd posts in there and i dunno rly. i like it how it is :(

I disagree, cause in spam forum you're allowed double posts (IIRC?) and can post about utter crap and you're getting a post count, but if i came in this thread and posted "lololol" it'd get me a warning/edit.

This would bring along alot more moderation attetion if it did. And it would no longr be spam. It would have to be a controlled discussion, no double posting no pointless srating thread like you find alot of. Basicly spam wouldhave to changed and would not be relaxed as alot of people complain that it should be.

03-10-2008, 09:24 PM
yes but spam does result to a number of people bein banned anyway for being rude to others so on blah blah blah.

it causes trouble all the same

No.................................

Why would a post such as

***** I AD CHIPS 4 MA LUNCH M8 be counted as a post whereas on a forum such as technology there is a decent, civilised reply/post such as you can find that laptop by clicking on this website.

If they where to do that then members that signed up like a month ago could be in the top 50 posters and all they did was act hard in a spam forum.

It's called spam for a reason, mindless stuff you don't gain anything from usually :P It's just pointless information which doesn't differ the way people see you in the more "formal" forums e.g. Habbo News, Discuss Anything, Technology etc.

Paulio

It would make it too serious. And what's the big deal with post count, it's a wee number near your name.. THAT'S ALL.

Kardan

No, spam posts shouldn't count as a post.

If you want to have a discussion, go to the Discuss Anything forum.

We shouldn't get post count for spam because you can double post and post pointlessly but I don't see no reason why posting in staff forums doesn't add to post count. :S

Well; when I had access to the staff forum; all it really was, was a spam forum for staff... But that was back in 2004...

Yeah, There is a reason it is called spam :)
so you can post things like "lalala" and then you don't get anything for it..

Would you really say a post of:
"asbgibgroubgso;gbw;rbgw" deserves more post count? :) Your opinion but I would say no.

It's the same for Staff Forums, We don't get more post count for posting spam / important big posts. We have to post properly as well.
So like other threads, I think it is fine as it is :)

Yuh same, it used to be just as good as the Spam forum. I don't think many people use it now.

The one's that think having a larger post count makes them better are the one's that will probally vote for spam posts to count, because they will be the one's posting and posting in the same thread all night to get themselves a 1 million post count.

There was a suggestion that post counts in spam could be enabled for a couple of days just to see how high everybodies post counts were, I still think that would be pretty cool.

Would kill the point in why the Spam section was introduced, was created to reduce all the "I am going to sleep now" threads from the Discuss anything section lol.

I don't think that posts counts should increase in the spam section, however... as things are at the moment it should, seeing as posts count in the forum games section (which is practically spam.. nobody 'plays' them for fun...)

Because we shouldn't get the privilidge of a higher post count just for doing our jobs. Idk what the official line is but that's what I think anyway. If post count in the staff forums counted I'd probably have over 10k posts now :P

Other people have pretty much summed up why post count doesnt increase in spam. It'd just become a second "discuss anything" forum that got moderated properly, I somehow got the impression people kinda enjoyed the slightly more relaxed moderating in the staff forum ;)

I agree.
People use post count as a derogative to other members. The ranks can still be used.

As far as post count in the staff forums, we allow spamming in the staff forums and double posting and all. Thus the aim is for a more relaxed atmosphere in the staff forums. Additionally this is to prevent people from staying cooped up on the staff forum and never posting in the public forum.

It'd require more moderation attention really if that were the case and it'd take away the point of spam in my opinion because of that as it really is as it's name describes. If there really are serious discussions in the forum then they don't belong in there I guess.
