I prefer the 1st one, because it has the weird grey bit which looks pretty sexi.

Maybe try adding a grey colour to the banner?
Dark grey..:PYeah it lacks something I agree with you there. If I made the banner dark grey it's in danger of becoming too bland if you ask me, the blue makes it fresh.

Crap... I usually like designs like this with lots of light contrast but somethings you > cannot < see very well, which doesnt make it very user friendly. For example the text which is I think is too light in my opinon I would take the gray of "About" and go half way between light & the current colour to get a nice gray.

Oh & the mac, that just ruins it sorry.

Oh & the mac, that just ruins it sorry.Depends on the lightness of the screen to be honest, if I went any darker with the dummy text it'd become too ugly. Could do with the headings, I'll play around with them :)

The image shouldn't matter. I guess it's a fill-in image (preview image), so it wouldn't be a empty space.
