View Full Version : My feedback on the new userranks.

Don't shove this in all the other threads that will be made, because it won't be listened to.

I love the whole idea of the new stars, as I suggested them a while back.

Anyway, firstly, I think ruby should be before sapphire and I think you should lower the number of posts for platinum as it is far too high.

In my opinion, the best option would be to remove ruby, and lower emerald and platinum to slot into its place (emerald being the same posts as the current ruby, and platinum being the same posts as the current emerald), as no one will ever get 40,000 posts, not for years anyway, and by then, the person in question would of most probably left.

I do like the new stars, its just ruby I have always had a problem with. :P

EDIT; In my opinion it should be:
Bronze > Silver > Gold > Sapphire > Emerald > Platinum

(Sapphire, Emerald & Platinum all slide back one play to fit where Ruby was)

same here i also suggested these two colours i think theyre a great idea as poeple who have been on 5 star plat for ages must of been getting a bit bored
the only down side is ive lose my storage box limitations and i havent checked my user profile pic
tbh i hope that hasnt gone =[

Emerald should go as the stars are not the same size as the other stars.

Also 20,000 posts should be the one that gets you 5 star platinum.

You have to remember, they can't just lower certain colours into certain areas, because they have to work with how many posts and so on you get for each star too.

What usually happens when ranks are changed on forums, is they work from the highest point, but of course Habbox are using precious stones and materials, so they have to come in order of value.

There could be a way of shrinking the standards to get bronze, silver and gold quicker so sapphire comes in below where Ruby used to come in.

Afterall, this is a big change and it should of been considered what would happen to features, and having people remove aload of PMs, avatars and so on is a bit out of order, really.

Platinum was fine where it was, it would of been interesting to see something after Platinum. Infact, Platinum and Diamond are sort of the same thing, so perhaps replacing Platinum with Diamond and having Platinum appear as the next line of ranking would of been more acceptable. But you'll have to think how to do a diamond star, because it can't be too similar to platinum :P

Personally I agree with 5 star platinum being very high so very few, if any, will achieve it. When the userranks system was first introduced people were saying that 5 star platinum at 10000 posts would be impossible to reach and now quite a few people have over 10000. People like Gomme and Jesus I'm sure will be happy with the new post counts because they again have something to aim for. You can't please everyone but now the lower ranks have something different to aim for and the higher ranks actually have something at all to aim for :P

What I don't really agree with is lowering the privilidges of members who gained the rank under the old system, I think it would've been better to tack some privilidges onto the ranks that are 5000+ posts and keep the same privilidges for everyone else; special "habbox god" avatars or a bold username or something like that. With some people having moved down ranks because of the new post requirements, and the ranks themselves having less privilidges, its kinda a double whammy for some people and they'll find themselves a lot worse off than they were yesterday.

Of course, the above is totally non-official because I had nothing to do with this decision :P

Only PMs have been removed, the avatars and such are still there but now literally hundreds of members are unintentionally breaking the rules.

I already got my aim of getting platinum, now I have to get it again :P I would rather have a new rank and keep my old one, that get it again. It's boring and if anyone looks forward for the same rank they had before, they're crazy!!!

Anyway, I think it was heartbreak kid who posted this:

The 40th is RUBY, as red as red can be
The 45th is SAPPHIRE - precious and blue
The 50th is GOLDEN - Congratulations to you!
The 55th is EMERALD - so green and so pure,
The 60th DIAMOND - an achievement for sure.
The 65th BLUE SAPPHIRE and 70th PLATINUM
The last two which are reached by some
The 75th is DIAMOND AND GOLD
The 80th OAK

Exacally and also i think we shouldn't change it yet just give it a couple months and see how things go and then if it's obvious no one is going to reach it or there is issues lower it slightly :)!

Wait no not Ruby, whats after Ruby the one before basically.

So - 5,600 posts should have 1 Ruby Star, And 9,000 should have 5. But we both have 5. So it's wrong. Just like you, and Pyroka - Pyroka should have 3 Rubies.

The problem with features is, yes we could have kept them the same but quite honestly we would not have many features to add to the "new" ranks. Also we don't want to have a lot of people in the "ultimate" ranks, I guess the mistake is people got used to having achieved platinum without too much hassle and so platinum wasn't as hard to reach as was originally intended. The usersystem was always a WIP (the FAQs even said we will probably change this at any time, and that once people started reaching the highest level the limits would be raised.)

If we just kept the features at where they were, the new ones would become pointless as you'd get barely new features as we're not increasing max sig, avatar, profile picture sizes. And you can't really improve on the "Yes" invisible of platinum.

I posted a more comprehensive post in the other post, just cos I saw it first so you can read it here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=524173&page=6).

Even though it will probably be a few years before any reaches it, I reckon there should be a really good feature (no idea what it could be) that you get when you reach five stars of platinum.

The changes I think that need to be implemented;

Remove Ruby, and knock each stage down 1 place.
If not, then switch Ruby and Sapphire around, and lower the platinum by a small ammount.

Thats all I can think of right now, but Ruby is horrible, Sapphire is worth more than Ruby and Platinum is far too high.

I think it's good that platinum is so high because it's a huge goal that will take a lot of time and work so personally, I think platinum should be left as it is. However, I think it's a shame that so many users are now going to have to go through Ruby all over again. I hated the rank and would much prefer to go through Sapphire since it's a colour I've never had (as I'm sure others would) - It just seems silly to have to repeat it.

In total, about 220 users were affected by this change. Of those, 150 are now Sapphire members, meaning they lost minimal features and simply changed colors. If we switch ruby with sapphire then really those 150 will have barely any changes. Then only 70 will be effected, which is less than 10% of our daily users, but not all 70 are even active.

I think a lot of this is a mindset, people thinking they have to work to get back what was once rightfully there however it was stated on the page, and when this was released that the ranks would ultimately be changed, and now they are to a more permanant structure.

You now have to work to get the same features as a paying VIP, having forty platinum members defeated the purpose (that number being chosen by the positioning of the stars and the output of my horoscope, too lazy to figure it out :P) Anyway, realize that 40,000 posts is not what you need to reach. You max out your features once you hit 20,000. The 40,000 limit is for those who really do stay on, so they have something to achieve beyond 20k. We are considering adding a feature for 5 star platinums but it won't involve reducing the current ranks' features, it will be a completely new one and there will only be one.

So although the upper bound is 40k, once you hit 20k you really do have all there is to have featurewise, except a full set of stars. I know mentally its like "well I've just been demoted" but after people get used to this new system (and there will be ample years to do so, with the exception of the possible switch of ruby and sapphire) it won't seem that way, few will remember what it was before :P
