I just sold an item for 77.01 on Ebay, with 5.00 postage.

The person who bought it shortly after sent me an e-cheque for the full amount, which is expected to clear on the 16th.

Obviously I don't post the item till the cheque has cleared, but I can be sure he has this money in his account... right?

When the cheque clears, it will show whether or not the cheque has bounced or not. Check the reputation of the eBay buyer.

You can't really be sure until the cheque has cleared, but yeh I wouldn't send it out until the cheque has cleared.

He only has 34 feedbacks but they're 100% positive.

Hmm, 100% is good but 34 feedbacks is a bit low. Probably a new member, but just wait until the cheque clears and you know that the money has been transferred.

I think until the cheque has cleared he can cancel it.

Even if they were in the thousends and they had 100% I still wouldn't want to take the risk tbh.

Yeah, waiting for them to be cleared is a nightmare. Good luck, hope he doesn't cancel it :)

Ebay is the same company as paypal so they will know if the check bounces :)

Is there anything I can do if it does bounce?

If it bounces contact him asking for payment, until you receive payment you are not sending the item, maybe get into contact with eBay and leave him bad feedback.

Can't leave bad feedback for buyers anymore.

Report to eBay as an unpaid item. It's a scammers heaven though.

If the money doesn't clear you need to contact the buyer first, if he doesn't reply then contact ebay using the dispute console, but DON'T send the item untill the money has cleared! Also, don't make the mistake of thinking the money is in your bank when its not, account balance and actually balance are 2 different things :)

The e-Cheque is coming from his bank account as he has insufficent funds in his online account. If he was going to cancel i don't think he would even send the payment.

Basically. You cant cancel a echeque i tried everything to stop mine but didnt work.

If it bounces only thing you can do is put a unpaid strike and relist the item free off charge.
