Well I know there have been numerous threads related to this issue, but the bot is quite annoying.
Could a better solution be integrated, such as having the bot post to a sub-forum inside of "Habbo UK News and Rumors" called "Habbox News" or something?
Because as it always has been.. the UK News and Rumors has been for users to report on the news.. not Habbox, if we wanted to read Habbox's news.. we would go to the site.
I just think it would be a better idea to separate them somehow.

Why? The pass could be 99 random letters for all I/you know as it's a bot, no-one logs into it.

Why?
to kill it plz.
and yeah i realise no-one logs into it, I would never wish for a real person to be hacked!

Pffft, just minus rep it. Make it fall into the red. It won't be pointless rep because it's reputation as a "spam bot" isn't exactly positive ;)

The edit on your post is pretty pathetic :\ I'm pretty sure he was just joking..
Either way, it's annoying as ****.

The way I see it is this, that it only makes a thread, no discussion takes place with the bot, not the trait of a member who gets involved and discusses what's been posted. Correct me if I am wrong ;)

You're exactly right.
There should be a seperation between the news department and the forum. It's integrating too much of the site into the forum.
The forum is a community, where we discuss our own topics, not what an automated RSS bot tells us to discuss.
It's not fair if we post the news first.. then the bot does, and we get our threads closed :\
I just don't think the system is worth it, and shouldn't be here. The news forum worked for so many years without the bot.. why change something that wasn't broken?

As said previously the bot is being trialed for now and a judgment on its effectiveness will be made in the near future. Thanks for your feedback. :)

I mean how could you judge it in the near future? You should be able to see how much people hate it now.. :P

Cause a lot of people tend to hate things in the short run where in the long run they get used to it and give it a chance :P
Threads being closed because the RSS bot posted it isn't cool, unless the RSS bot posted first. We'll probably move posts to a subforum instead, you're right that does make much more sense :)

Thanks for clarifying this :) Glad to see the idea might be put to use.
If it's put in it's own sub-forum.. I really don't think people should have room to complain.

I agree and I think the introduction of its own sub-forum will keep the forum looking a lot tidier too! Seeing the [Habbox] all over the place in that section is a big eye sore for me although I don't know if the same can be said for anyone else. :P

Yeah, makes it look like **** :P That way if people want to, they can read the Habbox New's version of the news.. or the user-generated news.

Problem with that though, moving it to a sub-forum suggests "if people want to view Habbox Habbo News, they'll go there" but that would be pointless because if people want to view Habbox Habbo News, they could just go to the website :/

I have to agree that this would probably be a better idea now. All the feedback isn't doing the news any justice anyway so the subforum idea seems a perfect compromise.

I dont see what everyone is moaning about, just because they dont get to post the news/rumours the bot does just comment in the the thread the bot makes... is it really that much of a big deal?

No.... They go to the comment box underneath the Habbox Habbo News. Ptish :P

Well, yes. Look at the posts people have been making. It wasn't something wanted and loads seem to prefer the old system. This system is restricting people to use that forum. Now they can't post news because it'll be over-run by the bot and their threads will most likely be closed for "repetitive posts," even though they got in there first. Even if their threads are not closed, it kinda discredits the bot and solves no problems :/ The only logical way would be to remove it or put it in a sub-forum, even though the conflicting arguments are starting to suggest removing it, because if people want to view the news, they could go to the Habbox site rather than a sub-forum becuase the site news is the original, while a sub-forum thread by the bot is a copy under a forum name which doesn't tell you who wrote it.

Merege the posts rather than have multiple psots there is always going to be multipe posts about news/rumours, whether it be by the bot or the users. So just merge all the posts into the bots. As it would if a few members posted the same news/rumour.
Sub forum if thats the way to shush everyone moaning about something so small.

Why should it be merged with the bots when they posted it first? If people want to view Habbox News, they'll just go to the site. News Staff aren't exactly being acknowledged through this bot, so the point behind why this bot came into existence has no point now, it was to show the News Teams articles. It just looks like they're showing off a seemingly irritating bot which doesn't acknowledge the news staff anywhere, and why should they be acknowledged? Other departments aren't properly acknowledged, the news team is one of the already acknowledged teams anyway, perhaps 3rd behind Forum Moderators and Radio DJs. Trade Experts aren't acknowledged at all nor the content team for their work. Their existence is the only thing acknowledged.
Also, it would appear the News Bot's trial period is over, if that's what came with CSS update on the 30th September. I remember nvrspk4 saying something about a 2 week trial :P
I +repped it as it informed me of all the wonderful things that are going to Habbo.

This forum is feedback, and it's encouraging to know management do listen and don't just do things to shush up those moaning, no matter how small or trivial it may seem ;)
I guess a compromise is something, and is better than nothing!
Habbo UK News and Rumours (11 Viewing)
Talk about the latest news and rumours on Habbo.co.uk.
It's always been a very very popular forum, all members know where to look for the latest news, and have felt confident to discuss with other members what's occuring, something the bot certainly doesn't do, as it doesn't interact with members. It's what helps to make the Habbox community what it has been and still is, anyone and everyone can participate. It's been working nicely for years and although I understand why a bot has been used, it's not really promoting the news reporters, and still feel a link directing to the main site would of been more beneficial, as I still don't see a prominent link to the main site on this forum. After all there is a link on the main site directing here, so why not one directing there?

Why put more work on the moderators to merge the bot posts and the duplicate user posts, when we could just do away with the bot, or the solution suggested earlier?
I'm sure you've moaned about something pretty stupid yourself before,

It isn't all that hard to merge the posts. I've actually be dealing with it and it takes me very little time to sort it out.
However I do see where you are coming from with the whole "the forum should be for discussion not bots etc" but on the other hand a sub forum wouldn't help either as said you may as well just go to the site in that instance I suppose. Not sure if that would be visible much to members either. If the bot is still clearly disliked and people have not adjusted to it we'll probably just remove it. Maybe a forum main link or something could work better - I'm not sure.
We'll see - thanks for the feedback. :)

I see the same old argument is being dragged up about the bot so I'm not going to give a same old reply :P I have discussed it at length in the other thread(s).
There will no doubt be a public consultation on the future of the feed and it is a bit like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. It was just an idea. In my mind, it isn't failing but in others it is. I've said what my objectives were and they've been met.
I will say about the comments box, yeah its there for discussion but that rarely happens. The issue we were having was that not enough people were reading the news because they'd rather just look on the forum than check the site. That meant zero discussion was happening in the comments box and it was simply being spammed and the reporters began to feel like they were working hard to post reports and they weren't even getting read.
I am sure all of the arguments on both sides will be discussed by the management.
