The 2nd quote shows that they planned to replace it but had no ideas, now they're tired of people moaning that there are no weekly competitions, so they've come up with this idea. It's funky friday, on a wednesday... HOW ORIGINAL.

they have been planning a replacement since before ff was removed. the reason is something about not enough people being involved in ff, especially in the writing of them

I would of wrote them, it's just I always felt they chose not so good one's over mine so y'no, and there's hardly any supers these days so it's difficult choosing a valuable price. Both times I won and wrote a Funky Friday I only received half my prize anyway :S

No point now, it just decreases are chances of winning even more.
