The Fansite Way has been updated. Whether you are an Official Fansite or an Unofficial Fansite, you must follow the Fansite Way.
Official Fansites Group (http://www.habbo.co.uk/groups/official_fansites)
Habbo is a place where people come to relax, hang out and make new friends in a safe, non-threatening environment. The same goes for Habbo Fansites. If you want to use Habbo graphics on your site then you have to follow a simple set of rules; The Fansite Way. Also, anything you feature on your fansite must not break the Habbo Way, or influence users to break the Habbo Way.
Fansites CAN:
- Post fun, friendly Habbo news with your own analysis.
- Hold competitions and parties in Habbo.
- Allow all Habbos to join in without discrimination.
- Discuss non-offensive Habbo gossip on forums.
- Create fun, non-offensive alterations.
- Offer help for new and old Habbos.
- Hold events for your readers.
- Allow your visitors to post a photo of themselves that's appropriate and does not contain personal information.
- Offset your hosting costs with advertising banners or ad words.
- Use publically accessible images created and owned by Sulake Corporation Oy responsibly and within the restrictions of the Fansite Way and Terms & Conditions of Habbo Hotel.
Fansites Must NOT:
- Offer Hacking, Scripting or Editing Programs.
- Publish any unreleased news regarding updates, new Furni or features without Sulake's prior permission.
- Ask visitors for their Habbo passwords or personal information such as telephone numbers or home address.
- Charge users for premium services such as VIP access.
- Act as an affiliate for a commercial entity, nor offer merchandise (including Habbo Furni) or services for sale.
- Offer to buy, sell or trade Habbo accounts for real money or Habbo Credits.
- Break the law or talk others into breaking it.
- Publish any material which may be offensive to other users or contains sexual content.
- Publish any personal information, pictures, video or documents belonging to Sulake Corporation Oy.
- Use slander or any other form of bullying in order to harass other people.
- Disrupt the operation of any other official or unofficial fansite nor disrupt the Hotel community.
- Replicate any part of the Habbo Hotel service ('Retro' Hotels, Habbo Home clones etc).
- Represent that your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy or that any other content on your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy.

VIP has been there for ages although I have a feeling (just a feeling) they are going to begin to enforce it soon.

This VIP thing seems a bit of a pickle...

Habboxforum is fine, it can keep on charging as habbox is official and they have now removed all links from the site to the forum. Making the forum seperate.

But for forum fansites like habbos.net it's bad mnews and lead to their closure (well was a factor I do believe).

Tim it says for official and un-official habbo fansites though?

^But Habbox Forum isn't an official or un-official fansite, it's a habbo related forum ;).

As long as it's not related to The Habbox Website then i don't see why it should matter anyway.. there are alot worse forums/websites out there.

It's still a fan site though Tim, using Habbo images too. However, they can't seriously think that it's going to happen because these fansites rely on this extra income to keep them open, well Habbox does certainly.

I think it'll be a shame if they start enforcing it... If they do, I can see HxF changing to another name and just getting rid of the Habbo images.

I can understand why they do this for smaller sites that close after a few days and have been selling VIP. Surely they can edit the rules to let gold tier fansites or all official fansites still to charge for VIP, it's ridiculous. Depends how lenient they are you could play the "donate for free VIP" type thing.

Oh yeah, didn't really think about it applying for all fansites, just asumed it was official ones, re-read it now.

That's what an un-official fansite is :) A site about Habbo that's not official.

The fansites need it for the same thing, if gold tier fansites need the money from VIP don't you think new sites do to?

Yeah but new sites scam more than older more establised ones do. Yeah, I know it would it be the end of new fansites but yeah. I don't think Habbo realise how many people would stop playing if fansites went. Although saying that I bought VIP on CH weeks ago and it's been down like 24/7, great.

I see your point, but tbh I don't think they thought the VIP rule through anyway. It needs to go :)

Immenseman

Yeah, do they not realise that so many fansite owners are paying some costs right out of their own pocket. Even the ones who make profits, it's ever so marginal and it's likely that they would have been paying out of their own pockets firstly when they were trying to establish themselves.

I don't think the VIP thing concerns HabboxForum as it's Habbox.com that is the official fansite.
I could be mistaken but I think they only mean VIP access on the main site e.g Habbox.com.

There are different Official Fanistes,
I think Habbox is general so it could include the forum whereas some other fansites are just the forum so it may only be towards them?

But still, I don't see how they expect a fansite like Habbox to run everything on just advertisements?

No a fansite is a website ran or created by fans.. Just tell them no-one on the forum are fans of habbo, we just talk about it.. and habbox forum will be ok :eusa_whis.

I am sure the rule applies to all official and non-official fansites. So habboxforum would have to remove VIP if habbo say so.
Habbo are looking for more money here :P Can't blame them though.

- Offset your hosting costs with advertising banners or ad words.

Is that bit not new?

A forum like habboxforum would struggle to survive and pay for its dedicated server so i dont think we will stop VIP any time soon, i think sulake is being so stupid. Only reason that VIP would end is if habbox could find a better form of income, ie selling banners as google ads dont produce as much as paid ads could. (i know they been looking into this).

Then if they wanted VIP it would have to be earnt through various of ways ie build up creds/coins via a points mod and purchase VIP with that, or donate or w.e

Sulake are beginning to make more and more ridiculous rules for all fansites now. Soon they'll be demanding for all websites to have a page devoted to Habbo Hotel entirely.

I hope ClubHabbo.net gets removed from the fansite list as they are pure rubbish.

But if you read what fansites CAN do, it says:

- Offset your hosting costs with advertising banners or ad words.

So they may argue and say stop VIP services and cover your costs by doing that
