This decision is probably the worst I've seen Habbox Management do (Yes it's even worse than the reputation fiasco just not as important).

I feel it's been poorly backed and it has little substance, it's simply nvrspk4 posting long-winded replies which all-in-all are consistent with 'Okay the management will review the case' and they make himself look very knowledgeable about the situation, I remember he made a huge essay in the reputation fiasco, and it just confuses people and a lot don't even read it.

If Habbox really were dedicated to eliminating spam, this is NOT where to start, all they have to do is create a thread in Habbox Feedback and I'll give you NUMEROUS ways to stop the spamming. Oh if only we had a god damn council!

Haha, i thought to have that council, watched it get formed... went away for a few months...come back and it had gone.. Amazing!

No, Admins don't care ;)

We do care actually and this is currently being discussed between the forum management - hopefully a final decision can be reached shortly. :)

We had a council but it didn't work because the management didn't listen to the council.

The council didn't work that well but not for that reason. Really it's hard to run a council and also balance the fact that it is up to the management to make final decisions. People can't always agree and someone has to draw the line and it just didn't work out very well at the time.

It shouldn't be that hard to discuss though..

Admin 1 says, I think we should warn/infract people who continue to spam the threads. If they don't listen.. we ban them.

Admin 2 says, I agree.

Admin 3 unlocks the thread.

The forum is happy.

You see, this method is very complicated! :P

If post your______ threads were removed for spam etc, why the hell is the forum games still there? thats the most spammed thing on habbox, hi jord.. but yh it gets spammed like hell and has since they got opened and management have never done nothing to stop that..

It's not like it matters anyway to be honest, as long as the entire forum isn't complaining.

I would rather have a few people posting off-topic.. and having an actual discussion.. then posting porn on the forum.. or trolling.

Not to sounds blunt here.. but if you're trying to eliminate spam why is there a spam forum?

Spam doesn't count to post count, as for threads out of the spam forum there isn't to be pointless replys such as "hiya..." or "........" or something completely off the topic of the post.

I suppose you're right.
Those threads were hardly spam, though.
I think the staff just need to accept that members want them back and re-instate them.
I've not been around here long but it seems to me that the staff have an issue with admitting that they're wrong. The members want them back, why not just do it?

It is, you just like wasting your time on petty things. Just unlock them :/ Members have just as much common sense, infact more with the current situation, than the management ;)

You just like pettifogging :P

Is it really that difficult to send a personal message? The reason that this issue has been so "difficult" to sort is not because of the pigheadedness of management - its because you've failed to use the avenues we've set up for you to actually be heard. Its been said time after time after time to SEND ME A PERSONAL MESSAGE its not at all a complicated formula. That's why you haven't been getting "feedback".

Surely it's a waste of inbox space? It'll be easier to just set up a thread or maybe set up a special function in the bug tracker.

I get your point.
I don't understand though, you can see from these posts your members want them back. So why not re-instate them while the senior management decide on a way to deal with the spammers in these threads. It's more logical and will give you more time discuss the problem rather than arguing with members about giving them back.

Judge Judy
17-10-2008, 03:11 PM
At Nereo, moving the threads would mean that post counts would drop and then people would complain going "Y R OUR POST COUNT LOWERED" and claim they don't care about post count even though they would if they complained.

In my opinion I didn't see the point of locking the threads they seemed like discussions in the threads ive been in.

Moving all post your threads to spam section would be idiotic aswell as its nothing to do with spams its to do with the sections they were previously in but as some idiots in the runescape section decided to spam them as they thought they were cool with an extra 1000 post count and gets every one of them closed because one section was spammed :P

Gtta agree on that one. In the RS Stickies, there would be a picture then 5pages saying "Nice bank" and stuff.

As for spam, if your trying to get rid of it then surely the Forum games section should be deleted ?

Surely it's a waste of inbox space? It'll be easier to just set up a thread or maybe set up a special function in the bug tracker.

Having to sort through a thread is difficult, especially as in most cases I don't expect it to be I am god hear me roar, I expect there to be replies so a thread will be confusing. I prefer the personal touch of PMs, first because I just happen to have a preference for private messages and second I prefer members to know that they can contact me via private message as that has not been something members were easily able to do before with general management. Personally I think that even though it may seem trivial being dealt with one on one as opposed to me going through the bug tracker and giving a rote reply is a better way to deal with a situation like this. I could allow you do debate me on this but since I'm doing the work I really don't think there's any point, I'll be muleheaded and do it my way and get it done in the end :P

I get your point.

The thing is we are trying to replace them...on a case by case basis. We want to reopen the valid ones, we don't want every last one to be locked but we want to gauge how much people actually use the thread and if its used for conversation as opposed to, let me post my thingie, now let me post my thingie, oh here's my thingie!

Those of you with dirty minds, let thingie=pony.

Also, "Post Your" stickied threads will probably be started by management from now on. We may allow non-stickied valid "Post Your" threads by members but the stuck ones will almost certainly be created by management so as to sort of control the creation of new stickies.

I kinda think I have a solution...all the Post your ____ threads should be unlocked and moved into the spam forum. Then everyones happy :P :)

We considered that...except people might not be happy posting in the spam forum.

First of all, it wasn't unecessarily long, it was about the length of your post...

Second of all, it had plenty of substance, it told you something you didn't know didn't it?

Third of all, you should PM me if you have an issue, as it says to do. Yes you can give Habbox Feedback here, and I read it, and I consider it, but considering that it clearly states we want appeals in the form of PMs I would guess that it might be a tad more effective.

Ewww, I am not affiliated with him in any way!!!

The problem with using the PM system for something this big would be we do not know what others are saying about the threads tog et them unlocked, they maybe missing out vital information. Also, you can't tell people to not post threads about it, if they didn't, then no-one would have a say in this matter or be told to PM you :P

Yes that is an issue with the PM system I guess, but no system will be inherently perfect, and I prefer this system for the moment.

I'm not saying not to post threads, you're absolutely right in that regard, discuss all you like but some are screaming at the lack of the response to the threads. We gave them a response, further tangible discourse can take place via PMs is what I meant :P
