I was recently threatened to be tracked down after a harmless prank call.
What number does skype use, can I be tracked, should I be worried?

No need to worry lol, you can't track Skype calls unless I suppose you call someone using Skype. Someone once told my mate that he'd get fined £100,000 for prank calling.
Nope, you're in no danger. There's no possible way they can track you, they don't even know you're name, unless you typed it in and you didn't put any addresses in at anytime, plus they can't they skype calls, no.. So you're fine.
Skype comes up as a private number. Your sweet!

you're also not allowed to trace calls, skype or otherwise.

If this person does trace your ip they will only be able to trace you to the city/town you live in, not your address or anything.

I hate to say it but for as long as you're on the internet you're always at risk. So, yes, you are. :P
But, no. Skype uses a Withheld number so he can't trace you.

Even if they trace it to your IP, what do they plan to do with it?

Yeah they can, unless you just change your IP address.

Well what you do say will be recorded by the Secret Service's like every other phone call but if you said something really offensive, they could request your number if it's withheld, the police would then get your IP from Skype and then contact your ISP. It's not possible to be anonymous on the internet when your ISP Logs everything.
Obviously no one would go to this effort for a prank call but if you continually harass people or break the law it will catch up with you eventually
