Hello all,
I am looking to upgrade to the new semi-professional camera from Canon, the EOS 50D. I was planning to get this for September 2009, however due to a number of reasons I am looking to get a loan from my parents for £1100 to buy the kit needed. I am looking to buy the 50D body only, plus the Battery Grip and spare battery.
Specifications of 50D;
15.1 MP (APS-C) CMOS sensor
6.3 fps with up to 90 JPEG image burst
DIGIC 4 processor
ISO range up to 12800
3-ich VGA LCD with Live View
High precision wide area AF
I have been looking around the internet for the best deals I can find, and this is what I have found so far;
50D Body - http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mainproduct.php?pid=4897
BG and Battery Deal (under main product) -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-BG-E2N-Battery-Grip-EOS/dp/B000V9D5KC/ref=pd_cp_ce_2?pf_rd_p=136153791&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0001GMIOE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=19X328DEV5GZC7XPW7KR
I was wondering if you can help me find any cheaper deals on the internet (not ebay, unless they are a UK based business/person with over 3000 positive feedback)? It would be a great help, plus I am happy to answer any questions here with regards to cameras or my photography.
Thanks again,
Darren

I not checked the website myself for the Canon 50D, but you can have a look at; http://www.warehouseexpress.com/
I heard good things about this camera, good luck :)

This does indeed look like a good camera, and the best camera for me to buy. Things such as the 20D, 40D etc are getting hold now and the 50D just beats them in specifications, however I can not afford a 5D MK2 therefore I have settled with the intention to buy a 50D.
That site wants £949.00 for the 50D body!

I have somewhere, will find it and post it in a mo.
Nice camera, looking at your pictures you have posted on this forum before, it doesn't look like you need to upgrade as the pictures look fantastic. Am planning on getting a camera in March for my birthday, not in a rush to get one. Good luck anyway.

I need to upgrade to get more FPS :)
If you are looking to get a DSLR for the first time, the 450D looks good :)

I wont be looking at a DSLR, although I wouldn't mind one at all, I couldn't be bothered carrying it around my neck. I'd be going for a digital camera, sleek yet a very good camera which gives me good quality shots, any suggestions? I thought you'd be the right guy to ask.

I always reccomend the Fujifilm Finepix's. I had the S5700 which was only a £120, so it was reasonable and provided quality shots.
I got some of my better shots with that :)
I was looking at that until I got into the shop and seen it. If I was going to buy that I might as well buy a DSLR as it''s big like them, anything sleek and good looking that could slip in my back pocket yet provide excellent shots?

It's a waste of money because you're only a snapper.

I would get more professional before moving onto bigger cameras like these, just my 2 cents.

I am already semi-professional, with my work being published and an event coming up which will earn us £5k...
At what point do you cross over from snapper to professional, I ask you today.

You just shot your self in the foot, looking at what you've been calling everyone else.
