Ok so this is the first time i have looked at the part of the forum and i am appauled at the information being given out. People do not advise on training and nutrition if you dont know what your on about. Around 85% of stuff i have read so far on here is absolute garbage.
I have mentioned this on a couple of threads i am a qualified fitness instructor and talk about this stuff day in day out.
if you have any question or need any advice dont hesitate to message me and i will gladly give you some real advice!

well, what do you expect on a forum full of teenagers!
The forum is for teens, it isn't a health and nutrition forum neither. People try and help others even if they dont know the ins and outs of what their talking about.

Would you like to quote some of the 'garbage' you read (without naming the person you quoted) and tell us what exactly is wrong with what they are saying and correct them?

Right so theres been a lot of coverage on these sorts of products in many magazines and body builders recommend them. Really all they are is just pure calories. Take someone who is trying to lose weight and gain muscle, they're just not going to lose the weight or they will have to increase their cardio workout by double just to burn off a few calories each day. We as humans consume over 50 grams of protein on a daily basis which feeds our muscles and allows them to get bigger and stronger.
Sure, if you're looking to add some extra calories to your diet and add some more protein to GAIN weight - I recommend you go buy a tub of maximum Weigh or just eat until your hearts content.
I'm sure a lot of inexperienced builders will disagree with me on this matter but it's down to preference. the only reason bodybuilders drink lots and lots of protein shakes is to keep them afloat, you mainly see them drinking these in big doses 5-6 months before Mr.Olympia occurs, this is because they are usually taking cocaine to stop them being hungry so they burn fat and look ripped - thats all.
All in all if you really want to get protein without the rapid consumption of hundreds of calories I'd recommend some lean protein such as meat, this is great for building muscle and gaining strength. Other ways of getting extra protein is by eating peanuts, they are full of protein and are very low in calories.
Just some information on your quest to build muscle and burn fat there, hope it helps!
If anybody has anything to add here feel free to do so Happy building.
ok now my response...
ok pal what you just said was the biggest pile of **** i have ever heard. wanna argue this with me i am a qualified fitness instructor and advise people of nutrition and protein day in day out. Protein is used to repair muscles because when you work out your muscles tear so when you rest your body frantically searches for protein to repair the muscles. the best time to drink a protein shake is within 30 minutes of your workout as this is when your body craves protein the most, because it is in a liquid form it is assorbed by the body faster. Not all protein is designed to make people big and bulky. you can get diet protein which can be classed as mean replacements. why would you need a meal replacement? because the best diet you can have is eating 5 - 6 small portion meals a day as this keeps your metabolism high. As you will not want to make 5 - 6 meals a day you can take 1 - 3 servings of a protein shake to count as a meal as it is full of high quality nutrients and protein to help the muscles repair.
i could chat on all day about this sort of stuff but you need to stop giving people advice when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about!
Well excuse us for passing on our information, its always nice to have somebody who knows what they're talking about but that doesn't give you the right to go and dis and shame other people because their information isn't up to your standards.
Please consider that everybody else may not be a "qualified fitness instructor" but at least they are trying to help people at need.

30 - 40% of people believe that Placebos work. I'm more than happy to give advice that has worked for myself, regardless of whether or not it is by the book, so long as it is going to put someone's mind at rest. :S

get ur head out of ur arse and understand that this is a teen forum.
obviously the answers are not going to be all correct, with indepth information which fitness instructors/dietitians/doctors etc. would give. if people on this forum wanted really good advice, they'd go to the people mentioned above.
i doubt a lot of members give false information just to mess around. thread starters ask for others opinion, and so others reply, most probably to the best of their abilities. if thats not good enough, then who the hell are you so belittle everyone else by throwing around ur 'qualified fitness instructor' status. you must not have a lot to do if your on this forum complaining about teenagers posts. just accept that members are trying to help others, and everyone should be grateful that they're giving their time and thoughts to attempt on helping others, not expecting anything else besides a possible 'thanks' in return.

others and i have no problem with you giving out decent information, it was just the way you approached it, by insulting others calling their attempts 'garbage'. people on this forum are only trying to help, and knowing limited information due to still being quite young only permits them to give back info possibly only based upon what they've experienced or read.

simply because some of the stuff i read was outstandingly bad and anyone who follows it is gonna get no where or confuse them even more. i'm not arguing its pointless. the thread to make people aware they can come to me for advice. anyone who has a problem with the get off the thread. i dont wanna hear comments from people so leave the thread be. if anyone does need any help private message me and i will do all i can to help you out.

Its fine you are contributing by offering help and support to members and im sure you are very good at what you do.
Its just the whole, "Im a qualified fitness instructor, you aint, so shut up, im right" that attitude isnt going to go down well with anyone. If you really wanted to help people you could have offered advice and left out the bit about everyone else being wrong. Its a teenage forum, of course some people are going to have wrong information ;)
But personally I would be more inclined to take the advice of people I respect and trust, even if it is slightly inaccurate, rather than someone who is "qualified" and is telling me that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

YOU ONLY NEED 15G OF PROTEIN PER DAY, THE REST YOU CRAP OUT ON THE TOILET. Thus meaning that you will just store the calories, idiot.

Who do you think you are coming onto a teenagers forum and thinking you're better than everyone else just because you think you know everything about fitness?

What you have to think about here is we're all teenagers, 12-18 around about. We're not pill popping bodybuilders who need lots of protein to build muscle (wait, they have steroids for that) So I will think that, "pal"

That's all well and good, but there's no need for him to act extremely arrogant.

Actually most of the advice is very helpful and it's good to know you can get advice from good people your age. You don't fit into what I've said, I don't think you will be very welcome here when you say that the information given is garbage.
