Hi
Well, I'm relativley good at computers, and have designed alot of habbo layouts, but i want to start designing "non-habbo layouts".

I'm meaning for quick example like http://techtuts.com , http://bbc.co.uk , http://enhancedlabs.com .

I'm 13, and am realy at the age where if i want to start learning a subject and become good at it (like i am with flying), i should start now.

So has anyone any
: Tips
: Websites with tutorials etc

That will help
Many Thanks
Luke

Tip 1: Do not use any Habbo techniques like 2 same colours together like light blue & a darker blue unless it's a decent layout.

Tip 2: PhotoShop CS3 is recommended

Tip 3: Do not steal/copy any other site graphics, they may take you to court if they a high company

Like the above post, also don't make it to complicated. Keep it simple and clean, e.g. nice colours

TIPS:

1. Use gradients & shading, it look more professional compared to most habbo layouts which have very bland looks.

2. Again, Photoshop CS3 is recommended.

3. Look at various non-habbo site templates and try to capture some features they use that look good, then incorporate them into your layout.

Hope this helped (:

Adobe Photoshop CS3 is a must have.

Start messing around with it with gradients.

I haven't tried this, but someone I know would get free basic layout PSDs to start off with, and mess around with them ending up with a completely different layout.

May want to explore stock photos when doing a layout for a special themed website.

View other websites and designs, even magazine designs, for ideas and inspiration.

Ok.

1. Try not using habbo-styles in the layouts.
2. Do your own things.
3. Never copy something from another layout!
4. Use Photoshop to design.
5. Learn how to use the Pen Tool. Could be really useful sometimes ;)
6. Use matching colours.
7. When you've learnt how to design, you could start coding.
8. DIV's and CSS coding is probably the best thing =)

1. Look at other websites that interest you (by having a nice design)
2. Look at tutorial websites such as w3schools.
3. Learn HTML + CSS (Easiest)
4. Learn Javascript
5. Learn PHP

If you know CSS, it's great.
DIV's are only the names of the things you add to make them show.

DIVs aren't any specific codes to customize the site.
All divs looks like this:

<div id="CSSNAME"></div>
or
<div class="CSSNAME"></div>
