We'll when I became VIP Editor I just made up the title of Reputation Editor so people would come to me for reputation, then it sort of got adapted into the job title. So I think Brandon should be able to deal with reputation.

I do agree. We'd need like 5 people who are dedicated to rep editing.
Their job will be to edit all the reputations, and nothing else.
This could make it work?

Not really.
You only need 1 person who can commit a about 10 minutes a day to checking the thread and sorting reputations out.
It's a simple 2 minute job so why would it require 5 people? :S

It's completely ridiculous. I reported unjust -rep two weeks ago and then went on a school trip last week. I was hoping for them to be done during that week, only to come back and find that they're still there. I have seen Nick- online lately, so there's no excuse for them not to be taken care of.

Ohirian
30-10-2008, 09:33 PM
We don't really need more rep staff.
If everyday the rep was looked through it wouldn't take so long.
However, you can't say Nick- should be demoted when you don't know the situation and what happens behind the scene.
Also, Nick- actually does a good job and its very occasional that this does happen.

The report reputation thread is not a right but a privilege, don't make the mistake of assuming it to be so ;)
That being said we do try to provide good services, so we will try and fix the situation ASAP, but I just want to make it clear that the reputation review is a service we offer that is far from necessary and hasn't always existed so its good to keep that in mind when stating that something is beyond reasonable etc.
When its something like VIP features its more understandable when people get upset, but this is a free service that is far from required so its good to keep that in mind :)

As is the Rare Values but when they weren't updated often enough both the Manager and Assistant Manager were fired. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't really bother me that much because if I get minus rep I usually just get on with it unless it's insulting. However, if you offer a service, it should be ensured that the job which it carries with it is carried out efficiently and regularly (and Nick-, if you read this, it's not a personal attack on you).

I think that comparison is slightly flawed seeing as the Rare Values is pretty much a corner stone of Habbox. Its what a lot of people visit Habbox for, whereas reputation isn't exactly this amazing thing that attracts visitors. Though I do agree, if we offer a service we expect it to be top notch and I'm sure it's going to be sorted properly ;)

Highly flawed comparison. First of all HxRV is actually a service we provide as www.habbox.com, admittedly not a paid one (we didn't even recieve that many complaints about RV, we largely took action on our own.) Second of all, Reputation Editor is not actually a job that he is required to do persay. You won't see an announcement that says Nick- is now Reputation Editor. He took on the role because someone had to, whereas a manager actively accepted and vowed to fulfill the position.
We understand that its a privilege, we are just simply asking to please make it a bit more efficient - its on its 7th page now :eusa_wall

It is something that people have got used to been dealt with yes, but it can be very time consuming and you don't know what is hapening behind the scenes with the people who are doing it, what may be going on and all the circumstances surrounding it. Assaid previously it is designated for someone to do but to be honest no one is going to loose any sleep over a -rep that has not been removed immediantly after you post for it looking into.
It's not a serious problem compaired to alot of other things that need maintaining within the forum and it's certainly not going to take presidence.
Im sure it will be sorted soon but you may want to lay off with the complaining, it doesn't effect anybody at all in a way that they really need to get upset about a little red dot in your profile.

I feel sorry for Nick- as obviously he has things that must be happening to prevent him sparing the time to deal with this, and when threads like this are made it must seem like a thankless task, not a nice one at all. If it's that time consuming then maybe it's time to lessen the burden and give Nick- some assistance, as it's now 80 replies and posts date back, to the 16th October. It's not fair to Nick- and it's not fair to members waiting. Happy members equals happy staff :)

To be honest, I think that VIPs should be able to ALWAYS have the priviledges of the current rep thread, so if it is removed, you would have to be VIP before you could do it.
Im not saying make it a VIP service only, im saying that if they ever took it away, at least make it a VIP thing. Now, here is what im getting at, we are paying Habbox for VIP, they make a bomb out of it, or at least enough to go wasting on Blog systems for vBulletin and so we are effectively paying for the "service".

I did suggest in the management forums a while back that we could use the Project Tools for a way of reporting reputation and infractions which would be quite effective for seeing how it was dealt with and keeping problems private if wanted.
But we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, it is also one of the most boring tasks sorting out the reputation thread.

Just to make things a bit clearer, I've been tussling with the issue of resigning for the last few weeks, which is what I assume the 'underlying issue' is.
Alice is right, this is an almost entirely thankless job and I didn't mind it being like that but eventually it became a less than thankless job which has now become a job in which people moan and whinge when they don't get their own way. It's a real shame that it's lead to this, I used to enjoy this job but the last 'throw the rattle out of the crib' moment was the straw that broke the camels back and at the moment the camel is contemplating getting back up or whether to just lay where he falls.
Rest assured though, whatever happens, the current reputation issues will get done. They may just take a bit longer than everyone's used to.

I couldn't agree more. Having -rep removed is a privilege and shouldn't be taken for granted. I do wish the penalties were harsher for those that waste your time, by that I mean those that deliberately give unnecessary -rep. However, I do realise distinguishing what is and isn't pointless is debatable on occasion. So I don't envy your position at all. It's not one I could do, so I applaud you for doing it :) Hope you stick around!

The reputation removal is a privilege. If Nick wasn't removing the reputation just because he didn't want to, Nvrspk would have addressed the situation (correct me if I'm wrong:P).

Priviledge or not, its a waste of space.
Sort it or delete it imo.

He's already said that he hasn't done it because he's thinking of resigning.

Yeah, so he's not doing it because he's thinking of resigning. It's not the same thing as expecting to keep the job and putting it off again and again and again.

I'm not defending him I'm just telling you the reason he has given for not doing the thread. :)

I didn't say it wasn't just only reputation? I was responding to someone else's post :|...

I'm not accusing him?
When I said he's not doing it because he's thinking of resigning I was saying he isn't removing reputation because he's thinking of resigning. Not saying the reason is unrelated to him resigning.

We're right back at square one - I like Nick- and have a lot of respect for him but if he's no longer passionate about the job then he should step down and let someone else give it a shot.
