Barton scores on his comeback for Newcastle, after coming back from prison. Wonder what the Geordie fans are doing, celebrating or tossing coins at him?..

Newcastle 1 - 0 WBA

Barton 10 (pen)

They might welcome him back. I surprised he's allowed back into football/had the full training etc with a criminal record lol

It was the Sunderland fans throwing coins FYI - Newcastle fans are only behind Barton when he wears the stripes - any other time and they hate him.

Why would they be tossing coins at him?!

Football fans are fickle and that'll never change. Like Adam has said, they'll love him while he's there but once he leaves he'll be ******* off by them all for being a thug/****.

Take Lee Hughes for example, he's loved at Oldham but I bet everything I own that they said they hated him et al after the infamous incident involving him.

Football matters should be on the pitch, off-the-field matters should be off the pitch. It doesn't matter what he does off the pitch, if he performs on it, then that's all they should care about.

Why wouldn't Newcastle fans celebrate a goal? Just because it's scored by a ****, doesn't make it any less of a goal for Newcastle. When Jerome played for us, Cardiff fans celebrated his goals even though most of them didn't like him at all.

Am happy for Joey Barton, and the fans were also happy, not throwing coins at them. That was the Sunderland fans at the weekend.
