Could do. But you could play it with 500 fans around it xD
I got rrod , but mine wasn't well ventilated. So i think it depends on the ventilation

I place mine on the floor in the living room. It has about 4 ft space each side, that enough?

I believe you can buy something which you attach to your Xbox 360 and it helps keep it cool.

Its from bad soldering. Not playing it too long, but turning it on and off.
IE, you could leave it on for 8 hours straight, which would be better than on for 2 hours, off for half an hour, on for another 2, off for half an hour so on and so forth.

This can happen but mainly it is due because of a system failure

Yeah it can happen, it gets too hot over time and it'd crash. I guess it'd crash so much though, that the whole thing would be like "**** this" and die. :P

When I got my Xbox back from repair, the checklist said my Dvd drive was screwed and so was my motherboard

Mine broke cos of the hardware.
Myn was well ventilated and I go it. Make sure you dust behind the tv, Xbox area every so often because I think that's what killed myn.
