This is what i learnt from a video (it works to). Basically your xbox overheats by playing a graphical game like COD4 or something which causes the GPU to vibrate and come loose. The GPU coming lose basically causes the ring of death. To fix it you basically got to get to the GPU unit by unscrewing the xbox. When you get to the GPU unit you basically put it back to place and use washers between the motherboard and the heat sink.

I might not make sense, if i didnt then go to this link to watch video footage of the causes and repairing:http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IxMIHlPXF8I

Erm, i'd rather send it to Microsoft then void my warranty.

Yeah but I'd rather try fix it myself than pay extra for them to fix it if my warranty runs out :P

If it's happened before simply say "This has happened before, and was promised it would not happen again" or something along them lines and they give you a couple of years free warranty. I got 3 years free warranty when I last sent my xbox off.

Better sending it off and knowing it's in the right hands, I did that but until I did, I done the towel trick, am sure you know what it is up until I could be bothered sending it off.
