Matt, the preview I really dislike. Seems as if it's clashing with all the bright colours on the navigation.

The titling under it, is nice but the Green, Pink, Yellow, Blue nav ruins it.

We have taken his criticism, and thought about it.. but he continues to brings things up, that are not needed.

We're taking SocialSigr extremely seriously.. the progress is tremendous, and we're supporting 4-5 new services a day..

Just today I've imrpoved the positioning by about 10000x better so it's not floating around.

We've handled it in a "serious" way.. sorry you feel this way ;)

not at all, i think its great that people on this forum are finally developing things other than habbo fansites and i want them to succeed, but if they're going to post a thread for people to discuss the website then post a response like source just did then they shouldnt have created the thread in the first place, a forum is for people to voice their opinions and discuss.

We are not taking this professionally, how can we get that through... we are a project not a business. We are taking the project seriously but at the end of the day me and caleb are enjoying working on it.

We did not intentionally get our "tweets" on their frontpage, its just their fault for grabbing all tweets with "twitsig" on and caching it.

Agreed.. we enjoy working on it, it's something to keep us busy.. and something that we feel can take off, and become quite a popular project.

We're not a business, we're not a professional company, but we've took it as serious as it needs to be taken.

--------------

We found it funny that twitsig grabbed every tweet with that in it, and we noticed it after we submitted it..

you didnt think about it, you said no lol. didnt consider it at all, nor gregs. im not saying that youre not progressing because i can see you are, im just telling you that the layour needed to be different, simlar to how i did a few pages back.

Perhaps everybody should tone it down a tiny tiny bit :P The site is in beta just like Youmeo so of course things will change and improve. Give them time to work towards things, one of them being a new design possibly? You can't rush them as it isn't a money making business.. It's just an online hobby to keep them busy for a few hours each day.

I think we should be concentrating on the progress rather than the layout at this moment in time?

It is possible, but it's a bandrobbery on resources.. the timeline is the only feed that provides the profile_image, and the timeline is only updated on tweeting.

I could always just visit the profile and explode the avatar out of it, but that's pointless and takes up too many resources. ^_^.

I'm having to re-write a bit of the imaging core to support that, because a lot of the imaging core was "just" for status updates.

I've included a new feature for us to change things on the fly, once they've been pulled out of the database, for those technically interested ;P

I've included a new feature for us to change things on the fly, once they've been pulled out of the database, for those technically interested ;PWhy don't you write a new imaging core specifically for gaming cards which pretty much only show pictures.

Of course you could just have the latest game they have played like with your last.fm idea?

Dentafrice
10-11-2008, 10:14 PM
Well I'm incorporating the idea I'm using now.. here's the current process:

1. $this->getTemplateArray();
2. $this->setColors();
3. $this->writeText();
4. $this->copyAvatar();
5. $this->overlay();
6 .$this->displayImage();

new new process:

1. $this->getTemplateArray();
2. $this->setColors();

3. Extra data (eval'd from database)

4. $this->writeText();
5. $this->copyAvatar();
6. $this->overlay();
7. $this->displayImage();

So now all I have to do.. in the extra part.. is do this:

$this->copyAvatar();
$this->templateData["posImage"] = "x|y|s1|s2|s1|s2";
$this->image = $this->data["image2"];
$this->copied = false;
$this->copyAvatar();

and I can do that with multiple images..

You keep talking about the Koornk thing, but I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it. Is it pretty popular?

Agree with you about it spreading fast, but I think it would spread even faster if you contact popular tweeters(?) and popular users of the other services and see if they'll mention it/start using it.

Also, make a little firefox toolbar or something? Where you enter in your username, select the service and template from dropdown menus, then a button that will grab the code and copy it to clipboard?
I doubt it will help the site spread faster, but it could be useful to people that already use socialsigr.

Bebo
Myspace

Possibly iTunes? I think there is a way where you can grab what a user is playing if I read correctly the other day? And MSN names? :)

The xbox ones will have some cool features when we get around to doing all the templates we want, for example showing what percentage of gamerscore the user has for the last played games (ie 200/1000 = 20% ). We can also show things like what level the account is (silver or gold) there country etc....

Its a very vast amount of information for the xbox ones, so when they get released they should be set to impress.

The feed doesn't return the maximum amount of gamerscore you can get for the games.. it just returns your achievement amount, and the gamerscore you HAVE got.. so you really can't determine the percentage..

I think you could do a sig for the PS3 too :)

PSN doesn't provide feeds outside of the PS3. It doesn't have an "online" community as of yet that exists outside of the actual console.

That's why PSN signature makers have you make the signature yourself.. and it doesn't have any dynamic part to it.

YES! Xbox Sigs!

I was tempted to ask the other day but I know how hard they are to do, and the fact that theres lots of sites with (ugly) designs.

Xbox sigs mixed with SocialSigr's slick designs, this is gonna be great.

And after Nov 19th, will they have Avatar support?

Caleb I don't know what feed your reading but the one I have been working with does... read it properly...

Eh, must have missed that part down at the bottom. I'm contacting the feed provider today, to see if he can get the feed cleaned up a bit, and organized more. Muh baddd.

It all depends on what Xbox ports to the web, and how our feed provider works it out :)

I believe the feeds will provide avatar support eventually, but it just depends on how long it takes xbox and (as caleb said) our feed provider to also implement it.

Hopefully they will just do what they do with the tiles, return an image. Lets hope its in PNG form with transparent background.

People who have the NXE installed (because they are on the Preview Project), already have their Avatars appear on certain gamercards. eg:

http://card.mygamercard.net/nxe/xJoeB.png
http://card.mygamercard.net/nxe/Major+Nelson.png

See? :)

After 19th, pretty much everone will have avatars and its then seeing how to get it set up with the coding and whatnot.

Most likely will be JPEG, like everything else ;P

Doesn't really matter what format it is in anymore, just f_g_c it then imagecreatefromstring, no trying to figure out what it is :P

We can make it transparent.. not that difficult.. but more processing power at that..

Im just suprised on how well you are doing (I dont mean that in a horrible way).

How long has the 'project' been up and going? You seem to have done a LOT of work in a short time!

About a week and a half now, or two weeks. We started out working on it just on weekends, with Matt doing the design and me doing the system.

Now I'm working on it during most of my free time.. and I've put a lot of other projects aside for it.

Well props to you all as its a great project. Deserves a lot of publicity, you should show it off to erm.. ill get the site in a min, but they would be really interested I imagine.

Here
http://www.downloadsquad.com/

They are a great site, sister site of Engadget and Joystiq, im sure they would be interested in SocialSigr as they point out all smart things on the web.

Add the site to StumbleUpon aswell, that's usually a decent way to increase hits.

Also, 500th post I believe, congratulations to me.

Edit: Don't forget the christmas themed templates :)

Is your profile private? That might be the issue.

Also I just made a quick n dirty new placeholder page, to stop people moaning about logo's not aligning.

I totally forgot about the new profile updates last night.

I just fixed it, and uploaded the new MySpace core.

Your images should be fixed on re-cache, and should appear to be normal :)

Thanks.

If you put '.mug' at the end of a Twitsig picture, it puts it on a Zazzle Mug to be purchased. Bit of a waste of money to do something like that :S

I might design some mugs yano, but they will be full mugs rather than a crappy signature just plonked on...

Just to let everyone know (as this hasn't been previously mentioned ). When using the Last.FM signature, your image chnages to a picture of the last band you played.
