Windows MSN Messenger today announced it will be closing down it's popular service after it was slammed by Labour MP's for inciting paedophiles on the world wide web.
This comes as parents across Europe called for the 10 year old service to be closed after a 8 year old girl was lured into meeting a 34 year old known paedophile.
The service will terminate on November 18th,and all accounts will be removed from the system.

So one MP complains and it all gets shut down?
Because MSN is the only chat room isn't it?

It isn't the first time that MSN have closed services due to child abuse ;
MSN is closing all its chatrooms in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and most of Asia from 14 October, and changing the way others are operated globally.
"As a responsible leader we feel it necessary to make these changes because online chat services are increasingly being misused," it said.
Children's charities welcomed the move as "momentous" and said they saw it as a big step towards protecting young web users, but some have criticised the decision.

Not necessarily, they may not have wanted users to be mailing them, e-mailing in with like "DON'T CLOSE" type thing.
@heart break kid - Most likely, when the Government give them the go ahead.

The only chat service available to MSN users in the UK will be the free instant messaging service, MSN Messenger, which is not so open and gives people more control over who they talk to.
Chatrooms on MSN's other global sites will either be supervised - or moderated - by an adult 24 hours a day, or will be on a credit card subscription-basis only. MSN is staying open.
EDIT - Oh yeah, 2003 :|

Use the chat type mode? like msn but skype, plus you can call them for free
Oh the call rates
(From a BT landline using a call over-ride such as phonecheap, cheapest chat or 18185)
Canada 0.3p/minute
France 0.3p/minute
New Zealand 0.5p/minute (or 1pence/minute via 18185)
Austrailia 0.6p/minute

Same rates just via an access number thats a free dial from a mobile. but add a 10pence connection fee
Plus you'd be stupid to dial international from a mobile, landline or VOIP is cheaper ALOT cheaper as I have proved
