The 'ass' filtering.

Was just wondering why 'ass' isn't filtered, but 'jack' and 'ass' is.

It's the name of a programme! :(

A jack-ass is actually an animal too :P but so is a ****zu (alternate spelling of shih tzu) and I'm pretty sure that'll get filtered

I think it's because there is no limit on the age, so there will be some members that are like going to be like 9 or something, where they don't hear it all that often.

If they used it as an insult it's pretty much guarenteed a moderator would pick up on it, so I don't see what the harm in removing it would be. However I also can't see how often a dicussion about donkeys or the gender of dogs will come up on the forum without the words be used for alternate reasons :p

Yes I'm in agreement with what you've said their Matt. It's been added as it was mainly to stop people being insulting to each other but by separating the words and various other methods there will always be ways to get around it. I'm guessing it's just there as a restraint to stop people from being rude to each other - in what situation would you need to say that word though in which it wasn't rude or inappropriate? I don't really thing the filtering is a problem as it's just there to prevent people from breaking the rules and if they get around it - like it is possible with any other filtered word they will just be contacted or punished for being rude to others or posting inappropriately?

"piss" isn't really used as much as an insult compared to ****. I guess though that is technically should be filtered.

I would like to see someone be insulted by the word "piss" or any mixture of words involving "piss." Surely if you;re called a piss head, stinky piss and any other humourous ways, you'll be looked at as trying far too hard?

If you were arguing with someone, I doubt they would call you a jackass, and actually mean it in a bad way.
