View Full Version : No Post Count in Forum games
Hey,
I think it wasn't a good thing to change the forum games forum.
You should be able to get post counts from there, even if the mis-use the threads. If they double post or break the rules, mod's take care of it. If they post pointless, SMOD's will take care of it.
Many people will stop posting in that forum now. Just checked the forum, and only 1 thread was created yet.
I think you should re-set it to normal forum games rules.
Do you agree with me?

For any board to be strong you need to have a high post count total, without a forum games the forum's weekly posts will decline and let other forums to take over Habbox's place on the boardreader ranks. I say for the good of the forum to leave it as it was as there's a forum games sections on almost all board (They don't get abused as much as it does here) but they still get used alot and that's where most of the forum total posts are found, just should of left it how it was.

What usually happens to normal people during the day from about 9-5 / 9-3? I wonder, could it be work or education, could it mean that very few people are on the forum because their not sitting on their computer? absolutely.
The forum games is a easy way to get your post count up, taking advantage of features that higher level post counts get, its very unfair if a member spends their time helping/constructively posting to get to use a feature through time, then some sad-addicted kid comes on the forum and gets 1000 post counts in a week.
It's really idiotic.
I very much doubt the forum games will get changed as the management agree'd (from what nvr posted im sure) and also vast majority of members agree'd its pointless and should have no post count.
So no, i don't agree :)

I'm still of the opinion that the post counts from the forum games should be removed. Most of the people who strongly disagree with that are the people whose post counts will go from 10,821 to 821.

All the previous posts made in there will still count towards post count. Its just new ones will not, simple :)
It's a good idea for a few reasons - 1) The User Promotion System works on post count. You get better features and climb up the ranks for making a positive contribution. Posts words, or simple posts which dont really have any structure means that people are getting better features for nothing whereas members who are really making an effort are getting left behind. MissAlice is a good preacher for this one; its the quality not the quantity of posts that count. 2) A lot of the threads in spam are more constructive than those in forum games! Forum games are just something to do when you're bored, or there isn't much to do. They are time killers. Your post count goes up in the forums where posts are contributing to the community. Forum Games just dont have good enough quality posts to deem it necessary to raise your post count. In my opinion it was a great decision, and I will have to conclude that I disagree with you Meti!

I'm glad it has gone.

If people stop posting now, it just goes to prove that they were only in it for the post count. If we aren't allowed "post your" threads anymore, then it only makes sense to get rid of the post count in forum games as well.
But I liked the game "Write with your nose" :(
Now I can't play it anymore :'(
Joking.
I still think it should be set back. What about all the good games?
It wasn't even affecting anyone by having post counts rise in there, it's a lot worse with people having long discussions in one thread, I don't wanna use anyone as an example but that WWE thread, there are 3-4 people really intrested in it and they've got about 200+ posts each just in that thread discussing a game they're looking forward to.. It's stupid for taking away post count from the games, yeah. ;)

In said thread, those 3-4 people are having a structured discussion on something they all happen to like. They are contributing a lot more to the community, and deserve those posts, than people who just post "Computer... desk... work..." in a word association game, or "Mr.OSH... Hiro... Ostinato" in the ever-gripping Name someone off HabboxForum thread.

The whole point of changing it was due to everyones decision, so this thread was a pretty much waste of time, sorry dude, but it was. :P
Not really, if you where to scan the thread most of them are just 'Is this wrestler going to be in' and 'Oh cool :D' but that's easy posts at the end of the day so I don't see why they shouldn't allow post count in games. I used to post in games because I was bored and I gained post count from it as I dislike the arcade, but yeah now that's spoilt.

If you were posting in it because you were bored surely you wouldn't mind about post count. I don't see why the fact it no longer adds to your post count would mean it no longer cures boredom :S

people care too much for their post counts. so what if it doesnt increase in forum games? get ova it n move on.
I couldn't give two ***** if any of these forums on here had 0 post count. It's just the fact that they decide after a few years that they would disable the post count, as dirty said 'people care too much about their post count' why would the admins care if people are getting post count from posting at the end of the day..

Stupid, if you ask me. You suddenly have to "contribute" to a thread to raise your post count. You're posting in a thread, you're making a contribution to it. Would have been better to put a limit on it.

Would be too hard to monitor, then 99% of the people who get warnings/infractions would post "Stupid if you ask me. if they don't want us to post in it so much they should just remove the post count"

Say, 5 posts a day that add to the post count and the rest don't. Is there no way to put this in place? That way, everyone's happy because people can get their post count up but it won't rise dramatically.

That isn't possible to do with vbulletin, if there was a hack needed then they would possibly have to get it made which means money/time and it also means possible security risks.

Disagree!
Now if I left it at that, my post would be totally worthless and pointless, so why should a post like that count? It's not even contributing! I don't understand why you would stop posting in the games thread now, unless you only posted there before to increase post count?
I agree with the change, I don't think it's right that you can make several thousand posts in the games forum using just a few words that are for playing a game, and receive the perks of the higher ranks, and the benefits that come with them ;)
Sadly that forum was abused, these are the consequences.

The reason old post counts still remain is because old management had promised it and nvr didn't want to go back on that
If people stop posting now, it just goes to prove that they were only in it for the post count.
Exactly the point. No more needs to be said really

Personally I don't mind too much if people don't use it that much any more. Its not like because there are no Forum Games, people will suddenly stop visiting. This means they will post in other places and make better contributions to the community with more meaningful posts. Especially since you get privileges for posts its not really fair on those who prefer to make quality posts, because the theory of the promotions system is the more you contribute to the forum the more you are rewarded. But with Forum Games, those who contributed more with more substantive posts were getting rewarded less than those who posted 10 times a minute in Forum Games (obviously I'm exaggerating a little bit there) :P

Only reason they didn't post 10 times a minute was because of the post limit so preventing them, otherwise it would be about 10 times a minute ;)

Either that or they'll just migrate to the welcoming threads haha, already seen a couple of the guys who had high post counts from forum games out there with a copy/paste looking kinda message. At least it's almost with a purpose there though I guess.

NubWhoWantsHighPostCount "Hey welcome to the forum"
40otherpeoeplewhowanthighpostcount "Hey welcome to the forum"
Thenewperson "Thanks everyone"
41otherpeople "No problem enjoy!"
Thenewperson "Thanks i will :)"
41otherpeople "Remember, follow the rules! :)"
And so on in every thread :P

To be honest though, there's not alot you can say when welcoming someone so there's no way to solve that issue.

Well now you dont get post count of forum games should managment think about lowering the post to reach a rank...I mean you keep making it harder and harder for people to get higher ranks? I think its kinda unfair on those people who had achived high ranks and had to achive them again and now you make it even harder for them.

No post count in Forum Games is giving the User Ranks a proper meaning. You get them for contributing rather than posting one word responses in a few threads. It may be harder, but at least they are earning their improved features rather than gaining them from what can only be described as posting to kill time.

Ok well do you think theres a chance that no one will stay around to reach the top rank as they will quit way before because they are not going to come on hxf for thier rest of thier lives. It takes around 3 years to achive 5000 posts if not less for the avrage user to get 40k you need to stay here around 24 years lol

That's the only problem with the ranking system going up so much :P But I suppose it is thinking optimistically (sp?). I think old members deserve a special ranking, even though it is reaching close to VIP features. They have contributed alot really :/ Especially MissAlice who doesn't post alot, and that is how you reach Platinum Status!

I still say there should be some sort of Habbox Legends award for people like Alice, like free lifetime VIP but more mega amazing.

Can easily get 1k posts in a month without massive spam, i have like 840 posts or something and been registered just over a month im sure, from what im aware all my posts are constructive and not posting for the sake of it (except in the spam forum, where posts don't even add so..). So if you posted in every topic (new posts > post in the topic and keep going) then you could easily get 1k posts in a few weeks, so easily 5k in about 3 month?

We adjusted the features so that people really don't lose much anymore since we upped the PMs and stuff, so really what they miss out on was the name and the stars under their names. Yes platinum lost a little height on sigs and invisibility options but that's about it :P
I think the problem with legends is the objectivity and who deserves Legend and who doesn't. There are some clear cut, but there are others who might be miffed for not getting it, or ask for it and be denied, etc. etc. I think officially elevating members from a management level in a completely objective fashion would damage the forum community a little.

Also removing the post count from games forum was a good idea it used to be way to easy to get post counts on there. Which wasent very fair to the people who didnt use that section.
