Right. I have Vista SP1 installed on my PC, and it's all running fine and I'm fairly happy with it, but I keep being told y copy on Vista isn't genuine? I'm pretty sure it is. My cousin woks for Dell and got me the Ultimate disk. I've installed it on my laptop pletny of times and it's never had Genuine Windows related problems, just now that I've installed it on my PC. Is there any easy ways arround this that dont involve going into the BIOS or anything?

Thanks.. :)

Nah, it is in there I just don't want to go into it and mess with stuff. :P

I didn't have to use a serial, it never asked for one. So I don't know.

OS isn't in the bios? :S BIOS is the basic input/output system, as in the peripherals/hardware goes through it, not operating system :S

If you don't need to enter serial chances are its tied to your motherboard.

One of the old validation cracks does actually involve the BIOS :)

Okay, that's probably the problem.
But how do I get rid of it?

You don't.

Microsoft don't give out disks so you can install on 20 different computers once you're finished with one, a disk is linked to the motherboard so you can't install it on tons of computers, you need to buy another genuine version :)

I can provide you with a crack, but you'll need to trust me that it isn't a virus.

Or you could phone up Microsoft and give them some crap about how your motherboard failed and you had to reinstall it on a new PC.

I suggest you call MS up and explain the situation. If that doesn't work your out of luck. Trying any cracks etc will only make your system unsafe and cause you more trouble than it's worth IMO.

As above, thanks for the advice. :)
