Hi, I was just thinking about havng a stab at this coding business and try it out with the layout I made.

But first I'd like to just make sure I've got the right idea about slicing the layout. So, I've done a kind of diagram, the red lines represent where I think it should be sliced. Could anybody tell me if I'm going in the right direction or will this just be a complete mess? :P

As you can see, the banner is all one piece while the content to its right has been split into three. I know nobody likes tables, but is it failry simple to set something up in order to allign the one object next to the three objects... with the navigation between them of course?

Also, if I was going to start a website with this or any layout, is this the correct way to go about it?:

1) Slice the layout.
2) Code (in Notepad in my case).
3) Find hosting service.
4) Upload every image used.
5) Get a domain.

Once all that is done, would I have to edit parts of the code where there are links to various pages? I mean, the "News" link on the navigation would need be changed from "News.htm" to "http://www.sitename.com/news", wouldn't it? In that case, is it better to get the domain name before coding it?

+rep for advice as usual :).

Once you've got it coded, I'd buy hosting and domain, link them (so www.domain.com actually links to your hosting) and then upload it.

Once uploaded, edit the code for, like you said, the 'News' tab so it links to your news directory or say opens a link in the iframe.

It's really simple to do, PM me if you're not too sure.

Hope this helped.
