Hi, i am making a new layout for my website but i cant find a descent font for it:/, ao im asking what is the most common font used in web site designing?

Pick your fave and supply the rest as back-ups.
the general list is, trebuchet, arial and verdana as most computers have them. im sure their is another one but i cant be bothered to open dreamweaver

Trebuchet MS and Tahoma are best for layout designs.
We have helvetica :P

'sans-serif' isn't a font lol. It's like what you put if none of the specified fonts are installed, it's the browsers version of it basically. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes it is, Microsoft Sans-Serif is more commonly referred to as Sans-Serif.
No, I mean in css when you specify it at the end of font-family :P
You list the font that you want first, then any fonts that might fill in for the first if it is unavailable, and you should end the list with a generic font, of which there are five: serif, sans-serif, monospace, cursive and fantasy.
