I was thinking the same thing, it's not like you spend all day in the control panel, like "Oh this is boring" :/ Normally it's games that bore me..

You need a clean install, meaning you need to re-transfer your documents and re-install all of your programs.

I would recommend doing a full re-format on your computer, but be sure to back your documents up to an external hard drive or a DVD.

This forum post (on another forum :() may help: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/577415-can-you-remove-vista-install.html

If you havent got the XP disk, you need to purchase one DO NOT PIRATE :). eBuyer.com sell XP disks (OEM) I beleive.

You can, but:

1. Its illegal and you can get into trouble for it.
2. A lot of torrents containing Operating Systems have problems with them, such as viruses.

Personally, I think security is a much bigger priority than spending nothing for an OS.

Maybe, you could try Ubuntu! Ubuntu is a free and legal operating system, just like Windows. Try WuBi (from download.com) to setup a Dual Boot between Window Vista and Linux Ubuntu.

Hope this helps!

Download one.
Or torrent one.
Burn it to a DVD-R.
Boom.
If it fails, you have the Vista install DVD. Reinstall Vista and redownload a different version of XP.

I see where Mr-Host.com is coming from; but this is a forum primarily full of teenagers, how do you expect people to not download things? :P
Take me for example; I have 2,000 songs on my External HDD, never bought a CD ever. The same is true for most teenagers.

I guess you could try Linux...

A friend of mine has used torrented windows, he would never do it again. It installed fine, but had a key-logger inside of it, and also "pretended" to have a built in AV software.

Never torrent an OS, buy it always!

No one listen to Mr-Host.
As long as the torrent hasn't been flagged as a virus it will be fine.

Its illegal! The guys at Microsoft have worked hard to make the product, and deserve the money for it. I'm sure if you had made the software, you would have a different opinion about it?

I'm sure it might not have a virus, if you choose the right one but a lot of the time Microsoft block updates to you, and stick "Genuine advantage" logos all over your screen.

Torrenting software (which has copyright) is illegal and many of them have viruses and malware in them. Sure, many of them have been checked over by hundreds of people, but they are still illegal.

ISPS dont care at all with the oss and programs, they only care about music downloaders because they get sued if they dont hand over the name of the downloader!

I have never seen a virus in a torrent download. If there is a virus the torrent tracker usually deletes them.

Microsoft is worth Billions, I am sure they won't care if they lose a few hundred pounds.

Well then quite frankly your friend is a bit of a idiot (no offense intended :)).
As I did say, if you download a OS and it turns out crap, you can easily reinstall the previous OS and get a different rip of the OS.

Not all of us have £300 spare to buy Windows (which, by the way, is pathetic)...
I'm not saying I'm poor, but I have to say I don't have £300 kicking about for a (pathetic and crashy) OS. If it was a good OS (Apple's Mac OS X), then I'd be more prepared to fork out the £129 to buy Leopard.
