I use it all the time, If I'm going away from the PC and I know I'll be back soon I put it on sleep, saves electricity.

my laptop goes to sleep after 5 minutes of no activity, so if i go somewhere like downstairs, or if i'm in a rush and don't know how long i'll be it goes to sleep itself. if i know i'm gonna be off it for a while i'll turn it off.

What's the difference between sleep and standby? I put mine on standby all the time when I leave the PC but I've never come across a sleep mode :P

I always leave mine on sleep, unless it needs to install some updates.

On a weekday I put it to sleep at 11pm and wake it up at 3.30pm the following day. On weekends it is only in sleep mode for around 9 hours from 11pm - 8am the following day.

My laptop is either on or on sleep. It is rarely properly off.

I often put it to sleep when I have my dinner/tea or if I'm going in the shower.

I do, but only because there is no hibonate option.Think you press shift on the shutdown menu on XP?

Anyway, I always use it much nicer to be able to jump straight into the action

Theres no hibernation option on Vista unless you enable it.. I never got it working though.

Nope. I use Hibernate on my Vista laptop and then I just use shutdown on my main PC.

I never use sleep or hibernate, when I'm not using it for an extended period of time (like when I sleep) I just turn off various things like the monitor and speakers.

Just started using it, but only because on my new laptop it's easier to click the sleep button than it is to shut it down properly.
