'Boxy' is the Brand New fleet of API being released by Uplodu!
Boxy is simply put, a fresh look at Upload API, and will not only feature a Bog Standard Uploader to integrate to your website, but over 12 designs, some of which featured in a spoiler below.
There will be no Links leading back to Uplodu, and we host the files. Once a file is uploaded, on a standard 'Boxy' it will leave a Clickable and Clipboard Copy link to the file, and on 'Boxy Maxi' it will feature all common Forum Codes, Hotlinks etc.
Have a peek at some few Boxy designs in this spoiler.

The designs shown are upscaled to be larger, and do not represent the final product.
Boxy from Uplodu will be released Late November, I'd love to take in all Ideas and Comments, or Questions!

Honestly, it sounds pathetic - "uplodu", sounded like some new linux system... exactly what does uplodu mean?
& I dont like the "API graphics", need a bit/lot more work.

Firstly, Uplodu is simply a name, a brandable name. It is the name I decided for a File Upload portal which can be found by clicking on my signature.
And we will be producing some amazing new graphics ready for launch. Thanks for your 'Feedback'..
Here is one of the more streamline designs: http://uplodu.com./upload/uplo1226525073.PNG
And Thanks British..
Looks good, but whats the point in it if it dosen't have a link to uplodu? Then it just uses up your diskspace with no extra visitors

Now, this has been taken into consideration, and we've decided upon an Uplodu logo appearing for 3 seconds with link to the website, then the Uploaded File to appear afterwards. This generates awareness of the provider, and can be removed with a License which costs only £1.00 GBP.

How is it classed as an API, I don't understand?
By the looks of it, it's just an upload form thats going to post to your site?

I thought the same. Also on the design, I think some styled buttons would be nice, or at the lesst upload one so it doesnt look so tacky :]

aren't* LOL
[cant edit post]
Meh, it's pointless not having a link. You should at least make your logo a hyperlink to your website.
I thought that upload thing did say uplodu, I'd either make it say that or add a link :P

I don't really see how this is an "API".
The actual definition of API is:
"A set of functions that can be called from an application program to access features of another program."
This is just a form which submits to your site? :P Basically a very primitive integration point..
Maybe if you allowed the raw submission of image data.. then upload and return the results as XML.. sort of a RESTful API.. that would be better..

I've said this to Caleb, and I'll say it to you -- How the **** is it an API? Do you know what an API is?

When have you said it to me? :P TehUploads? Yeah the iFrame thing isn't an API, but we do offer a "behind-the-scenes" RESTful API that a few sites are using ;P

I said it was a "behind-the-scenes" RESTful API meaning it's not public ;)

OAuth, I found it. =] How very 'not public'.

I'd say it seems like nice little idea to add to the "Goodies" section of my site (assuming I'm imagining what you're saying correctly). Although I'm not getting involved with all the technical stuff everyone's going on about above :P.

Congrats, you appended /api/ to TehUpload.. we actually do not use OAuth.. that was a test file that was uploaded. It was a pain in the ass so I decided not to use it.

The color fonts on the submit button need to be removed.
I don`t like them. They look too boring.
There should be something fresh and good.

Okie doke, here's a general reply:
To all who ask: There will be no License, and a small link.
To Dentafrice, and others: API is my buzz word for that sort of thing, I digress in using it any further, and I apologise :)
To Alex/Jafooli: You are the most unconstructive little freak I have ever met :P
To Meti and all concerned of the designs: We will be having Feedback upon the designs, and Boxy will be released among a new Uplodu Design.

how dare you call me sir :)
i was just saying, firstly its not even an API, and i dont think you will get much coming from it, and i think you should go and start on a new idea that uplodu can benefit from, instead of wasting your time on this, which wont really help uplodu

While that is a good point my friend and I have already apologised for a far out use of 'API';
We have no Embeddable/Linkable services, so it's a good place to start, no?
AlexOC
13-11-2008, 06:51 PM
well its a good serivce for 3rd party users, but for you its useless, you need someway to attract more visitors to your actual site by using the embeddable service

And you come in actually knowing what an API is, from where? Sorry.. you just don't seem to know very much.

So you've gathered that i don't know very much about websites from what 3 posts in this thread?
I was just trying to help.

Yeah I have.. you're saying it's not an API, after a few people who do know what they are talking about said that..
Then you're giving Elliott suggestions on how he should run his website, from what viewpoint? How do you know what will make a successful website?

So when is any of this coming out?
Or any of the other features that are currently 404 pages on your site..
I'd love to hear some updates ^_^.

Not really.. just been wondering what's going on with it.. you have to keep up with your competition ^_^.
Like JewBear not allowing anymore uploads, OMGUpload being sucky, JustUpload not getting renewed.. etc. ;]
Ah fair enough I suppose :)
Anyway i'm tired. Bed now.
