Would it be possible to have an optional censorship?
It can't be that much of a big deal as Habbo also have the option?

I personally doubt we'd add this for a number of reasons. Firstly we try not to add lots of hacks/add-ons to the site for things like this and more to the point we have always maintained that whilst habbo allow swearing to be displayed when the filtered is turned off it does not make for a nice atmosphere and it just encourages fighting and arguments. Why would anyone need to swear other than to offend someone or just as a bad habit? Really I see no need for foul language and also we have many younger users on the forum who probably don't need to be subjected to inappropriate language. I know that people swear in real life and it's a common thing but really there is no need for it and by allowing it will only cause disruption and problems. :)

I thought last time it was brought up there was no mod to do it :o i have had a break though so maybe missed it.

I think having a very strict filter is great and should be set as on by default :) but for us who dont want a filter now the option is available should be allowed to turn it off. :)

Its nice to have such a stricter filter it means that offensive language can be dealt with by a moderator as oppose to both parties getting involved in a trash talk competition where we will have to deal with both individuals and then have the whole playground "BUT HE STARTED IT!"

I don't see why you need to swear on a forum in the first place?

I feel just the same way about habbo but because they have an option for swearing it would make sense for habbox to do the same.
I like a strong filter here and others think lots of words should not be filtered so this option solves any arguments.
This would also make the mods job easier as people wont avoid the filter any longer and the people who dont want to see swearing will still see it as *******
No big deal either way to me though it just makes sense.

I think this could work, as long the swear words weren't used as a derogative towards other users

cuz u mite just want to say

oh **** i didn't mean to do that.. or something

sooo would be good hxf :)

Without going into examples it'd be very annoying for the mod department.

When I looked earlier I thought it was edits to files, not a plugin so you coul see if it was secure?

Anyway, valid points meaning mine is irrelevant :p

The mods would just ignore them unless they were used directly at somebody just the same as on habbo :8 I must admit that although i have the filter off on my habbo account its not good to see.

I think if the idea did ever get a trial swearing in thread titles would need to be a rule. it could just work well but without trying who knows. (also people should be forced to post proper thread titles)

I think this is a fair compromise, however in such a large community it would be hard to maintain. People would be more willing to swear at others.
