Would just like to know what you would prefer, as I am going to get on or the other as a gift for my brother.

He spends alot of the time on the computer but does like his consoles.
But most of the time its gaming on his computer.

I am stuck with what to get him...

Hmm, I was just thinking a laptop because he does go on about like he wants to take his laptop to watch tv or go out somewhere...

Still, keep the votes coming please!

Lol, hes 14 and loves him computer. I was looking at the Dell XPS M1330 or M1730 but the M1730 I am not sure if I should spend that on his first laptop incase he doesn't like it.
But are they both good?

Wouldn't spend 1.1k on brother tbh :P

1530 has bigger screen than 1330 and cheaper :P

I aint that bothered on the price, but not too much for his first laptop.

If he's wanting to play games, get an Xbox or a Desktop, laptops rarely get better performance than a similarly priced desktop

He has a XPS desktop, he wants a laptop or 360 now. He'll get the other like a 3 months later but for Xmas he wants one of them...

I would advise against XPS laptops, they're not designed for gaming much anymore and alienware (which is now linked into that section for some reason) is way over priced. Plus I had my M1330 repaired about 8 times till it finally stopped completly (I actually had my laptops motherboard replaced then have the graphics chipset stop working ,on the same day, which is on the motherboard -_-).

I now have a HP Dv5 whatever and it just works and no problems...Yet (Also the media centre remote is better then the dell one)

Well with the ideas you've mentioned, like he plays games on the computer and has mentioned he would like one to walk around the house with, then a laptop. He'll use it more it seems.

Plus as people have mentioned, not all laptops are capable of playing games on, and he has a desktop computer by the sounds of it, which he'll for games.

What is the spec of the desktop because if it can play games better then theres no point getting one equivelent just to go on msn...

EEE PC for gaming? :P

Inspiron isn't for gaming either really, just general use.

Their linked because alienware is owned by dell.

There is XPS and XPS gaming/alienware. For gaming you need XPS Gaming/Alienware. A 1330/1530 wouldn't be needed.
